Large Nephrology practice in Baltimore is actively seeking a motivated Scrub/Circulator Technician to join our team. Our full-time position is scheduled Monday through Friday - no nights, no weekends, no holidays! This role offers a dynamic and team-oriented environment focused on mutual support and improvement of patient outcomes. $3,000.00 sign on bonus

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Preoperative Duties are as follows:

Assist in interventional procedures, maintain sterile field and safe surgical environment.

Assist clinical team with patient and procedure room preparation and post-procedure clean-up

Consistently prepares appropriate supplies and equipment based upon procedural and/or physician preference list.

Monitor and maintain adequate inventory of medical supplies both for the center and in the procedure room

Move and position c-arm as needed during procedures

Actively participates in all performance improvement activities and team meetings.

Gathers, checks and opens supplies and equipment needed for the procedure.

Performs the surgical scrub, and donning gown and gloves.

Sets up the sterile back table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for the procedure.

Assists with draping the patient and establishing the sterile field.

Secures tubing, wires and other sterile accessories.

Intraoperative Duties are as follows:

Prepares and anticipates additional instrumentation, equipment and supplies for usage during the procedure.

Anticipates the needs of the interventional radiologist by passing instruments and supplies to him during procedure.

Measures and passes medications, hemostatic agents and irrigation solutions utilized during the surgical procedure.

Holds retractors or instruments as directed by the surgeon.

Sponges or suctions the operative site.

Cuts suture material as directed by the surgeon.

Coordinates the camera or changes out C- arms/instruments during endoscopic surgery as directed by the interventional radiologist.

Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during the procedure.

Performs additional counts as necessary.

Prepares sterile dressings and/or immobilization devices.

Assists other members of the team with terminal cleaning of room.

Assists in prepping for the next patient.

Participates in debriefing and quality improvement practices to ensure quality patient care

Additional Duties:

Assists with transferring patients to the procedure room table.

Monitors the comfort of the patient and provides verbal and tactile reassurance to the patient.

Assists in maintaining normothermia.

Assists with positioning the patient, using appropriate equipment and anatomical principles to avoid patient injury.

Performs instrument, sharps, and sponge counts with the surgical technologist in the first scrub role prior to the operation and before the incision is closed.

Anticipates additional supplies needed during the procedure.

Keeps accurate records throughout the procedure.

Helps transport the patient to the post operative area.

Stock rooms daily as needed. Unpack and put away deliveries as needed.

Education Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent
Scrub Technician certification 
Current BLS/ACLS certification

Work Experience Requirements:  One year of equivalent experience preferred.

Equipment used in this position: Computers, printers, phones, fax & copy machines, C-arm machine.
