PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND POSITION PURPOSE:
The Sales and Catering Intern provides support to the Event Sales and Service Managers and Conference Service Manager. They are responsible for modeling Averill Hospitality's core values and charges, contributing to the fulfillment of business objectives across the business unit, and collaborating with others in the fulfillment of our shared mission.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with day-prior and day-of wedding coordination and set-up tasks
- Provide day-prior and day-of wedding coordination services for assigned wedding groups
- Participate in pre-event meetings with Event/Conference Service Managers and the Banquet Manager or Captain assigned to the event to assist in providing exemplary client experiences at the property
- Create documents to support the leadership meetings and BEO meetings, print and save them in the designated OneDrive location
- Support the Event Sales and Service Managers and Conference Service Manager with client needs, including inputting information in Tripleseat for event contracts and BEOs, creating event diagrams based on the client’s preferences, collecting advance deposits and final payments, providing documentation to clients, ordering linens, booking transportation, and any other needs.
- For small groups assigned by the Assistant Director of Sales, coordinate all aspects of client’s experience at the property (or properties), schedule and manage menu tastings, create room diagrams based on client’s preferences, create the banquet event order, and collect advance deposits and final payments in accordance with established policies
- Participate in weekly BEO meetings to communicate needs to operations team members as needed
- Administrative tasks as required in the performance of the role

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the General Manager based upon the particular requirements of the company.
- Maintain an open line of communication between guests, employees and management
- Assist in any other duties as needed. This position may be required to perform other and additional duties assigned by senior leadership.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
EDUCATION
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Hospitality related program.
- Two years’ relevant hospitality experience and/or a hospitality degree is an asset
EXPERIENCE/ LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES
- Experience in the hospitality industry an asset.
- Valid driver’s license
