The Opportunity
We are seeking a Safety & Data Coordinator to support our Safety and
Security Department. This position plays a key role in maintaining and
improving safety management systems while contributing to an exciting digital
transformation journey. The successful candidate will help implement and optimize
safety data systems, operational tools, and data tracking frameworks across the
organization.
Reporting directly to the Data Solutions Manager, the Safety & Data Coordinator will:
Safety & Security Data Management:
- Categorize and organize event reports, process internal and external data, support corrective action tracking, and assist in dashboarding and analytics.
Management System Development:
- Support mapping and documentation of companywide management systems, including SOPs, checklists, and corrective action integration.
Internal Audit Support:
- Maintain the audit calendar, schedule audits, assist in drafting reports, and process audit findings.
Digital Platform & Microsoft 365 Support:
- Support digital transformation initiatives, including configuring and optimizing SharePoint, Planner, Teams, and related tools.
- Assist with project plans, user account management, and training rollouts.
General Administrative Support:
- Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas and minutes, manage departmental communications, and support emergency planning activities.
What You Bring
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 tools (Excel, SharePoint, Teams, Visio, Planner).
- University degree in economics, business administration, computer science or a related field (asset).
- Experience in data analysis, KPI tracking, and dashboarding (PowerBI is a strong asset).
- Background in digital transformation and data governance (asset).
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and support large-scale change initiatives.
- Professional communication skills with discretion in handling confidential information.
Working Conditions
- Primarily office-based, with the office location determined by the successful candidate’s residence (either the Halifax or Charlottetown office).
- Occasional visits to vessels, terminals, and other company sites as required (pre-approved by the Data Solutions Manager).
- Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours as needed, including occasional overnight travel.
