The Room Attendant is responsible for the general cleaning, appearance, and upkeep of assigned guestrooms and other assigned areas to ensuring that NHH’s highest cleanliness standards are met.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUCTIONS:
- Change all used linen daily and as need
- Thoroughly vacuum carpets daily.
- Clean bathrooms thoroughly and restock supplies.
- Dust all furniture and fixtures including headboards, mirrors, picture frames, credenzas, televisions, tables, etc.
- Have complete understanding of the proper layout of the furniture and amenities in each room type. Ensure that furnishings and correct amenities are in their proper places after the room is cleaned.
- Be accountable for the guest’s belongings left in the room. Any found items must be turned in immediately to the Director of Housekeeping or Person in Charge.
- Be aware of any suspicious activities or persons. Report such activity immediately to your supervisor or the General Manager.
- Place keys left behind by guests in the key box on cart.
- Watch for message lights left on in Check-out rooms. Report to Front Desk.
- When working inside a guest room, pull your cart in front of the door to the room, making sure that it is not blocking the hallway. If someone tries to enter the room while you are working, ask to see their key. Report any problems to your supervisor or the General Manager.
- Follow all departmental rules and procedures in doing your job.
- Maintain assigned equipment. Empty vacuum bags, check belts, etc. Report any problems with your equipment to your supervisor or maintenance immediately.
- Be aware of and follow all safety rules and use caution in doing the job.
- Must wear the required safety gloves (PPE) when cleaning rooms, handling linen, changing sheets, cleaning restrooms, emptying trash, and other room cleaning responsibilities. Must change gloves after cleaning each room and as needed.
- Perform all other work related duties as requested by the supervisor or General Manager.
COMPETENCIES
- Must be able to effectively communicate and interact in a friendly, helpful and respectful manner while on property.
- Basic understanding of the English language is required to perform assigned tasks and follow directions, verbal or written.
- Ability to understand and carry out verbal & written instructions independently.
- Committed to providing constant and consistent exceptional customer service to guests.
- Must possess honest and integrity
- Must show up for work on time and follow work schedule
- Works well independently or with a team and with minimal supervision
- Must work safely and maintain a “sense of urgency”
EXPERIENCE
- Some hotel experience preferred
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- No employee supervision responsibilities
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Occasional exposure to hot and humid conditions
- Occasional exposure to soiled linen and/or contaminated materials from rooms (see bloodborne pathogen guidelines).
INTERACTION
- Occasional interaction with hotel guests
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
- Must be able to work full time flexible hours, overtime, weekends, holidays and as needed.
