Reports to: Director of Nursing
Job Description: The Nursing Supervisor will oversee the day-to-day operations of the nursing department and ensure the highest quality of care is provided to our residents. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, and be a team player.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the nursing staff and ensure all residents receive the highest quality of care
- Provide guidance and support to the nursing team and ensure they have the necessary resources to perform their duties effectively.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care plans are developed and implemented
- Conduct regular rounds to assess the quality of care being provided to residents
- Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and standards of practice
- Assist in the recruitment, selection, and retention of nursing staff
- Develop and implement policies and procedures that promote safe and effective nursing care
- Participate in the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to nursing staff
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to discuss and evaluate resident care plans and progress
Qualifications:
- Current RN license in good standing
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in a long-term care setting
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing nursing practice
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- CPR certification required
Physical Demands:
The Nursing Supervisor must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift, and move intermittently throughout the workday. The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with resident transfers as needed.
Working Conditions:
The Nursing Supervisor will work primarily in a clinical setting within a skilled nursing facility. The position requires working some weekends and holidays, as well as being on-call as needed. The Nursing Supervisor must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment and be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
