The RN Staff Development will help assist the DON in coordinating the Nursing Department by overseeing one of our beautiful resident neighborhoods.. As a Management RN, they are responsible for the nursing team and quality of resident care in their respective neighborhood of oversight and the entire community. This position will supervise, analyze, delegate, and evaluate nursing care and activity to ensure patient comfort and care is individualized and promotes highest quality of life for the people served.

Experience:

  • Nursing: 3+ year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • BLS Certification (Preferred)
  • RN 

Duties/Responsibilities:·       

  • Collaborates with residents, staff, and families/responsible parties
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates plan of care for each resident.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary care conferences.
  • Communicates specific resident needs to family, social services or appropriate personnel.
  • Responsible to address staffing issues.
  • Provide ongoing staff training/education and evaluations.
  • Work closely with DON and team leaders, checking for problems/concerns, and resident care changes.
  • Complete all assessments per individual assessment schedule.
  • Performs daily rounds to supervise and monitor resident care.
  • Participates and assists with admissions, discharges, and transfers of residents.
  • Investigate resident falls, skin tears, and other incidents to create a plan to prevent.
  • Provide assistance with survey process and plan of care.
  • Attends Medicare/PPS meetings and other meetings as needed.
  • Ensures timely completion of functional assessments weekly for residents due for an annual, quarterly, or significant change MDS.
  • Communicates new orders for physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy for evaluation to contract therapy provider.
  • Completes quarterly psychotropic documentation quarterly, including progress notes and required assessments.
  • Ensures completion of consent forms for psychotropic meds (yearly, on admit or change in dose).
  • Tracks and updates Moses and discus reporting as needed.
  • Update toileting schedules weekly and as needed.
  • Assist at mealtimes as needed.
  • Give direct nursing care when needed.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience in effective leadership.
  • Exhibits professionalism and positive approach toward others and work-related tasks.
  • Demonstrates willingness to become familiar and adhere to state and federal regulations and infection control.
  • Must have a genuine interest in geriatric nursing and a willingness to upgrade by attendance at workshops, seminars, and facility meetings and in-services.

Education and Experience:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Must retain a current, unrestricted license in the state of Minnesota as an RN.
  • Must retain a current CPR.
