RN - Assistant Manager of Health Services FT Exempt
The Gardens at Luther Park Community is a 70 apartment Assisted Living with Memory Care facility. We are searching for the right RN with the right skills, experience and personal qualities to take over this unique position. Job Summary:
The Assistant Manager of Health Services supports and assists the Manager of Health Services in providing quality nursing care for general assisted living and memory care residents at the Gardens at Luther Park Community. The Assistant Manager of Health Services will be knowledgeable of all state and federal laws, rules and regulations applicable to assisted living. The individual supports all initiatives designed to provide a physical, social and psychological environment conducive to maintaining the highest level of independent function and well-being for all residents of the program.
Essential Functions:
- Collaborate with the Manager of Health Services to conduct 30-day, 90-day and annual resident assessments.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, pharmacies, hospices, home care agencies, etc. in coordinating residents’ health care needs. Process orders and ensure they are completed and recorded.
- Provide leadership to monthly medication changeover and complete monthly MAR audits.
- Periodically audit resident charts to make sure charts are complete and service plans, services rendered and fees are aligned.
- Ensure incident reports are completed on time and followed up on. Periodically review incident reports to identify concerns with residents’ safety, track findings and implement changes as needed to address root causes.
- Share on-call responsibility with other clinical staff.
- Communicate with family members regarding the health condition and progress of the resident including in-person and telephone discussions when appropriate.
- Assist with monthly in-service education programs for clinical staff and maintain record of programs and attendance.
- Ensure the facility operates in compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.
- Participate in continuing education to maintain credentials and increase expertise and knowledge of assisted living management,
- Assist with and submit records and documentation as required by internal policies, state and federal rules, regulations and laws for assisted living facilities.
- Follow up on acute assessments happening daily with the residents.
- Other duties as assigned by the Manager of Health Services or Manger of Assisted Living.
Experience/Educational Requirements:
- Possess an active RN license in compliance with the Iowa Board of Nursing requirements and standards.
- Must be able to pass a background check and post offer physical and drug screen.
- One year of experience with assisted living or long-term care programs preferred.
- Knowledge of MS Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from residents, family members, staff, regulatory agencies or members of the healthcare community.
- Possess initiative, good judgment and leadership ability to work well with the community, residents, families and staff.
- Possess understanding and compassion for the elderly population.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with people of all backgrounds.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-directed and ability to work independently.
