Salary range: $35,000-$40,000 + $9000 housing benefit per annum per person

About the Opportunity
Kerith Retreats ministry team plans and coordinates Focus Canada’s Christian retreat ministry. Staff within this team support the delivery of multi-day retreat sessions that focus on the renewal and refreshment of Christian ministry couples or singles.
We are seeking a fun, goal-oriented couple with servant hearts to warmly relate to individuals and guests, as the live-on-site Caretaker and Housekeeper at our retreat centre in Manitoba. They would be coordinating the care and maintenance of the facilities and grounds keeping and for cleaning and upkeep of the lodge and suites and in the basement of the house. It is highly desirable that some of this work is accomplished through recruiting, supervising and encouraging teams of volunteers. The Caretaker and Housekeeper couple will reside in the residence on the property and fair market value for the rent and utilities will be added to their remuneration as a taxable benefit. What’s the job?
Key Responsibilities of Caretaker
Oversee all the Kerith Pines facilities and property including general repairs, upkeep of buildings and equipment to meet a 5-star standard
Assemble and execute a maintenance schedule
Confidently & competently attend to building maintenance, safety procedures and grounds keeping i.e. lawn care, weed control, snow removal (snow blowing and shovelling is required)
Ability to operate small machinery (i.e. ATV, tractor with snow blower attachment, snow machine for trail maintenance, chainsaw)
Work with the Co-Director couple to develop a sustainable volunteer team for annual / semi-annual workdays for spring cleanup on trails, grounds keeping and spring cleaning inside lodge & basement suites and housesitting when necessary.
Assist other staff and volunteers to facilitate cleaning during tight turnaround times between retreats, lodge clean-up (linens, washrooms, suites, kitchen, floors, etc.) and other requirements of the lodge and residence buildings as needed.
Assist Co-Director couple with recruiting and encouraging host couples (and individuals) for Kerith retreats as well as Hope Restored intensives
Fill in as host couple as needed
Key Responsibilities of Housekeeper
Consistently maintain the overall cleanliness of the lodge before and after events, including replacing supplies, laundering linens, etc. to maintain a 5-star standard
Housekeeping for the suites in the residence as needed
Replace cleaning supplies, toiletries, etc.
Notify the co-Director of the need to replace larger items such as linens, towels and minor appliances in suites
Determine a schedule for completing bigger, more occasional jobs such as washing windows or walls, etc. and complete as needed
May also work with co-Director to recruit and coordinate volunteers to help with workdays to accomplish these bigger tasks
In coordination with the Co-Director couple and other staff and/or volunteers, ensure that facilities are ready for all retreats, intensives and other Focus events
Ideally you have experience with commercial cleaning
Submit monthly expense reports
Assist with pre-retreat administrative needs for Intensive retreats i.e. print of name tags, prepare booklets for guests.
Assist the caretaker with repairs and maintenance as time permits
Fill in as host couple as required
