Who We Are:

Heritage Park is Canada's largest living history museum and offers visitors a chance to experience life in Western Canada from the 1860s to the early 1950s. The Park features historical buildings, costumed interpreters, working antiques, and various exhibits that provide insight into the region's past.

Job Overview:

Reporting to the Guest Services Manager, the Retail Sales Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of the retail locations in the historical village, including the supervision, scheduling, and delegation of work assignments to the retail sales associates while leading by example and providing outstanding customer service, and information to Park guests. 

Responsibilities:

  • Training, supervision and mentorship of store staff on safety & security, cashing procedures, equipment use, customer service, cleaning, stock rotation, costume policy, conduct, product knowledge, display, and sales techniques. 
  • Complete weekly payroll timesheet calculations and prepare and distribute bi-weekly schedules for staff 
  • Conduct seasonal staff evaluations and exit interviews to assess performance and gather feedback 
  • Monitor and ensure all stores are adequately stocked, communicating stock levels to the Manager of Merchandising as necessary 
  • Prepare maintenance reports and handle staff injury and Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) reports when applicable 
  • Assist with seasonal store set-up, tear-down, and physical inventories to ensure smooth transitions between seasons 
  • Provide an exceptional visitor experience through friendly and courteous interactions with guests, staff, and volunteers, using polite greetings, actively acknowledging guests, and handling situations positively 
  • Perform other duties as required

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum secondary school education is required 
  • Minimum 6 months prior experience with staff supervision and retail setting is preferred 
  • Knowledge of display techniques experience would be an asset 
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team 
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills in a client-faced setting 
  • All successful candidates (over the age of 18) will be required to go through a Police Information Check as a condition of employment. 

Special Clothing and Equipment:

  • Appropriate costuming and safety equipment will be provided by Heritage Park; and
  • Footwear, as designated by the Heritage Park Costume Department, will be provided by the employee. 

Special Working Conditions: 

  • This position is physically demanding, and the incumbent must have the ability to lift heavy items, stand for long periods of time and walk throughout the Park for extended periods during set-up, delivery and take-down. 

Hours of Work: 

  • The hours for this position are 30+ per week, and the incumbent must be available to work weekends as well as holidays and occasional evenings
  • Shift times are generally from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., however, can vary based on operations
