Host/Hostess Job Description
CONRAD'S Eat Drink Local is looking for a host/hostess to add to our team. We are a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant and operate three event rooms within our doors. A host/hostess presents a positive first impression of our restaurant's friendliness, excellent service and high standards. They are the Director of first and last impressions.
To succeed in this role, you must be able to carry a natural conversation with guests without sounding scripted of intrusive. Additionally, the host/hostess care for our guests but preforming light housekeeping duties such as, but not limited to, bussing tables, cleaning menus, and doors. As a member of our team, the host/hostess may also answer the phones and assist in taking ToGo orders to vehicles. Availability must include nights and weekends.
Responsibilities Include:
- Greet incoming and departing guests warmly with a genuine smile and eye contact; escort them to assigned dining area; present menus; announce server's name
- Use our computer system to manage the flow of the guests, our wait times and rotation of servers
- Answer incoming calls to the restaurant and provide appropriate service
- Tend to guests needs and special requests
- Protect establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety and alcohol control policies
- Help dining room staff by setting and clearing tables or other requests
- Receive payments by validating credit charges and accepting payment for ToGo orders
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Complete opening and closing duties
Host/Hostess Requirements:
- Must be able to clearly communicate guests needs to servers, managers, etc.
- Must be able to articulate clear greetings and farewells to guests
- Must be able to answer telephone in a loud environment and respond to guest requests
- Must be able to walk and standing during entire shift
- Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, and wipe
- A desire to help out where needed and work as part of a team
- Passion for providing extraordinary service
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- An appetite for learning (and great food)
- Previous experience is preferred but not required
- Must be upbeat, outgoing, and positive
- Must be able to assist guests and possess great guest relations skills
- Ability to work effectively within a team
