Your new role
With the adoption of a dry-stacked tailings facility for the Windfall project, you will be accountable for delivering a state-of-the-art tailings facility that looks to eliminate risks associated with traditional dam designs. The design and construction activities will need to be closely integrated to ensure that the Windfall project has the most safe and efficient facility possible which is also expandable for future production profiles.
Specifically, this role will be accountable for:
• Ensuring that there is a design for all surface landforms, including waste and ore stockpiles and the Tailings Storage Facility.
• Overseeing all geotechnical investigations for the facilities.
• Managing the engineering service providers to ensure that an optimal, but critically safe design is developed, that complies with the latest in international standards for landform facilities.
• Ensuring that the designs are developed with operations at the forefront, not only in delivering a design that meets the operating criteria, but that facilitates safe and efficient operations and expandable for future potential production profiles.
• Overseeing the overall strategy for storage of waste for the long term for the project.
• Ensuring compliance with environmental permitting requirements for the landforms and associated issues, including surface water impacts.
• Working with the other Area Managers to ensure that there is a fully integrated asset design and operating strategies.
• Developing contracting and construction strategies, integrated with the delivery of all other parts of the project, including mining activities.
• Overseeing the safe and efficient construction of the landforms (including the TSF).
By efficiently managing and allocating resources, you will drive optimal project execution, ensuring that every aspect runs smoothly and effectively. Your strategic vision will be instrumental in developing and implementing comprehensive engineering, procurement, and construction strategies that align with and meet the project's ambitious goals and objectives.
What you'll need to succeed
• Degree qualified in a relevant discipline (Project management qualifications highly regarded).
• 10+ years of experience with tailings storage facilities (TSF) or water management systems.
• 8+ years of experience in managing large-scale construction projects in mining.
• Bilingual (able to communicate with clients and stakeholders in English and French)
• Leadership qualities to motivate and guide engineering, procurement and construction teams
• Collaborative skills to work with functions and other areas in scope delivery
• Ability to conduct thorough site inspections and evaluation
• Proficient in data analysis and reporting for performance assessment
