Job Overview 

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Respiratory Therapist to join our healthcare team. The Respiratory Therapist (RT) is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing respiratory care plans for residents within the skilled nursing facility. The RT will assess residents' respiratory needs, provide therapeutic interventions, and educate residents and staff on respiratory health management. This role is critical in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centered care to residents with varying degrees of respiratory complications. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality resident care, support the nursing staff, and ensure that residents receive the best possible treatment in a variety of settings, including long term care, sub-acute care, and memory care. This role requires strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to resident-centered care. 

Responsibilities 

Including, but not limited to: 

  • Consult and Support up to 17 skilled nursing facilities in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. 

  • Assess residents’ respiratory needs, provide therapeutic interventions, and educate Residents and staff on respiratory health management. 

  • Design, implement, and manage respiratory care plans for residents within the skilled nursing facility, 

  • Knowledge of respiratory therapy equipment and treatment modalities.  

  • Ability to lift and move residents and equipment as necessary.  

  • Standing, walking, crouching, and bending are frequently required 

  • May be exposed to infectious diseases and other hazardous conditions typical of healthcare environments.  

  • Document residents information accurately while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. 

  • Proficiency in using electronic medical records and healthcare technology. 

  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to deliver comprehensive resident care in our 17 facilities.  

  • Work is performed in a skilled nursing facility setting, with regular interaction with residents, families, and healthcare staff.  

  • May require evening, weekend, and holiday consultation based on facility needs. 

 

 

Skills 

 

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program 

  • Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist 

  • Certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is preferred. 

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification. 

  • Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility preferred.  

  • Experience working with geriatric populations is a plus.  

  • Proficiency in using electronic medical records and healthcare technology. 

  • Strong understanding of resident care principles and practices. 

  • Ability to provide compassionate support. 

  • Proficient in lifting techniques to ensure the safety of both residents and staff. 

  • Familiarity with Skilled Nursing, Sub-acute, and Memory Care and the specific needs of residents. 

  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations to maintain resident confidentiality. 

  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations during an emergency. 

  • Excellent communication skills to interact with residents, families, and other healthcare professionals. 

  • This Respiratory Therapist role is essential for ensuring that residents receive the highest standard of care while promoting their dignity and comfort throughout their healthcare journey.
