Notre Dame Preparatory School, an independent, Catholic school for girls in grades 6 - 12 in Towson, is seeking a full-time Upper Level Religion / Theology teacher & Department Chair for the 2024 - 2025 academic year. The school seeks applicants who enjoy working in a mission-driven, religious educational setting. The school seeks applicants who reflect and support a commitment to educating young women in the tradition of the School Sisters of Notre Dame (SSND), the spirit of the Second Vatican Council, and the practice of prayer and social justice. A successful candidate must be an active Catholic and will possess the following characteristics:

  • Strong academic preparation in Theology, Religious Studies, or a related discipline.
  • The ability to work collaboratively to develop and enhance curriculum both vertically and horizontally.
  • Utilize a variety of engaging classroom instructional methods and experience with integrating technology in the classroom.
  • A commitment to Notre Dame Preparatory School’s mission of academic excellence, spiritual growth, and the practice of social justice.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments especially with Campus Ministry, Social Service, Counseling Department, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach Religion classes to Upper Level students (primarily, grades 11 & 12).
  • Serve as Upper Level Advisor in the Advisory program.
  • Work collaboratively with members of the Religion Department, NDP Administration, faculty, and parents.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development.
  • Participate in the school community with other duties as assigned.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Notre Dame Preparatory School.
  • Chair Responsibilities:
    • Serve as an instructional and pedagogical leader of the Department – helping to unite members in both theory and practice; curriculum development and implementation; support classroom teachers in using current and varied instructional methods.
    • Serve as Department’s administrative leader – overseeing department logistical concerns and supervising faculty.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of five (5) years teaching experience.
  • Prior experience in an administrative capacity / leadership role in a school setting preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Theology, Liturgy, or Religious Studies; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Must be open to teaching Catholic Social Teaching/Justice, Christian Morality, World Religions, and Humanities courses.
