The Rehab Technician provides a support role in the delivery of therapy services. This includes assisting the therapist in the set-up of the treatment area and assists in maintaining the cleanliness of the department during normal business hours. The Rehab Technician serves in the role as the Office Coordinator. He/she performs clerical duties, assists with obtaining durable medical equipment for patients prior to discharge, maintains performance improvement activities within the department. Participates in all infection control, departmental equipment training, organizational safety and fire safety programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

1. Responsible for providing set-up of treatment area only as directed by the staff physical or occupational therapist. Adheres to Medicare standards.

2. Transports residents according to scheduled appointment time, maintains

compliance with safety policies during transport at all times.

3. Maintains patient medical record forms, evaluations, educational handout

distribution material, assists in record keeping of patient files, invoicing, claims

billing.

4. Communicates any changes in condition (physical or mental) to the supervising

staff therapist, nursing and other facility personnel, as appropriate.

5. Orders, stocks, maintains accurate records of adaptive equipment.

6. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial needs of patients and family.

7. Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. Maintains department

cleanliness and safety.

8. Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the

formation of the plan of care.

9. Prepares and cleans treatment area for patient use at all times. Performs final

cleaning at close of department, in preparation for first morning patient.

10. Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful

situations.

11. Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other

departments.

12. Consults other departments as appropriate to collaborate in patient care and

performance improvement activities.

13. Participates in educational staff performance improvement inservices. Assists

with orientation and inservice training for certified department staff members,

participates in guidance and educational programs.

14. Participates in infection control, departmental equipment training and

organizational safety and fire safety programs.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High School Degree or completed GED

CNA certification

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Experience working with geriatric population preferred.

Good interpersonal and public relations skills.

Solid analytical, creative, and problem-solving abilities.

Able to assist and coordinate with others.

Able to use computer in basic word processing, email correspondence, and excel applications
