Overview:

The Manager, Digital Fundraising plays a key role in executing and optimizing digital fundraising initiatives across paid media, email, and web channels. Reporting to the Associate Director of Direct Response, this role supports the strategic fundraising goals and KPIs set by the Monthly and Annual Giving Managers by translating them into actionable digital plans. The Manager oversees the digital fundraising team, and collaborates with internal teams and external partners to ensure campaigns are delivered effectively, on brand, and in alignment with organizational objectives. This role also provides performance insights and tactical recommendations to inform future strategy and enhance donor engagement.

We are currently recruiting for 1 Full-time, Permanent Position. This is a new role within the organization. 

Responsibilities:

Strategy & Planning

· Develop and implement digital fundraising plans that support the strategic objectives and KPIs defined by the Monthly and Annual Single Giving Managers. Provide tactical recommendations and performance insights to inform future strategy.

· Collaborate with Monthly Giving and Annual Single Giving managers to align digital tactics with broader fundraising objectives and KPIs.

· Forecast digital revenue and expenses, and adjust strategies to meet financial targets.

· Stay current with digital fundraising trends, tools, and best practices to identify opportunities for innovation and growth.

Campaign Execution & Optimization

· Lead the execution and optimization of digital campaigns across paid media, email, and web platforms, ensuring alignment with strategic direction provided by Monthly and Annual Single Giving managers.

· Oversee the development and deployment of email campaigns, ensuring execution aligns with strategic direction, audience targeting, and campaign goals set by the Monthly and Annual Single Giving Managers.

· Manage the optimization of lead generation funnels and donor conversion strategies.

· Ensure consistency and alignment with brand voice and fundraising goals.

Audience Segmentation & Targeting

· Oversee audience segmentation strategies based on behavior, demographics, and engagement history.

· Ensure messaging and engagement tactics are tailored to diverse audiences across markets.

· Use A/B testing and performance data to refine targeting and improve campaign effectiveness.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

· Deliver actionable insights and recommendations to the Monthly and Annual Single Giving managers to support strategic refinement and performance improvement.

· Monitor and analyze campaign performance using tools such as Google Analytics, Looker Studio, Meta Ads Manager, and CRM systems Raiser’s Edge.

· Provide regular performance reports and insights to inform strategy refinement and demonstrate impact.

· Ensure data accuracy and compliance with privacy regulations (e.g., PIPEDA, CASL, PCI).

Partnership & Vendor Coordination

· Provide strategic direction and oversight to creative agencies and digital media partners.

· Ensure timely delivery and quality of campaign assets and media placements.

· Monitor partner performance and ensure alignment with campaign goals and audience strategy.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

· Supervise and mentor the digital fundraising team fostering a collaborative and performance-driven team culture.

· Collaborate with internal teams including Communications, Donor Services/Donor Experience, and Data Services to ensure integrated campaign execution and consistent communication journey experience.

· Participate in cross-functional planning and contribute to organization-wide fundraising initiatives.


Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Financial Performance

· Revenue Generation & Budget Management: Deliver $5M+ revenue and manage $1M+ expense budget, aligned with monthly and annual single giving managers’ plans.

· Budget Adherence: Maintain expense allocations within approved limits and ensure campaigns meet cost-per-acquisition (CPA) and efficiency benchmarks.

· Campaign ROI (Return on Investment): Ensure ROI meets or exceeds benchmarks and aligns with organizational financial goals.

· ROAS (Return on Ad Spend): Optimize paid media performance to meet or exceed ROAS targets.

· Campaign Cost Efficiency: Ensure overall campaign spend delivers maximum impact relative to revenue and engagement goals.

· Alignment KPI: Ensure digital revenue and expense performance aligns with monthly and annual single giving managers’ plans and targets, including timely reporting and collaboration.

Acquisition & Conversion

· Donor Acquisition Growth: Achieve year-over-year growth and align acquisition targets with monthly and annual plans.

· Cost per Acquisition (CPA): Achieve and maintain CPA within approved benchmarks for all paid media and digital campaigns.

· Cost per Lead (CPL): Maintain or reduce CPL for lead generation campaigns to ensure efficient funnel performance.

· Lead Conversion Rate: Optimize conversion through targeted digital engagement and funnel improvements.

· Donor Acquisition Cost: Maintain or reduce donor acquisition cost across all digital channels.

Donor Value & Retention

· Donor Lifetime Value (LTV): Increase the average lifetime value of donors acquired through digital channels by improving retention and engagement strategies.

· Donor Retention & Reactivation: Improve retention and reactivation rates, ensuring consistency with single giving strategies.

· Average Donation Size: Increase or maintain the average gift amount from donors acquired through digital channels.

Engagement & Audience Growth


· Donor & Lead Engagement Score: Improve engagement metrics (e.g., clicks, conversions, repeat interactions) to increase and strengthen donor relationships and long-term value.

· Email List Growth: Expand the size of the active email subscriber list to support acquisition and retention goals.

· Email Engagement: Maintain or improve open rates, click-through rates, and conversion metrics.

Targeting & Optimization

· Audience Targeting Accuracy: Maintain <2% error rate and leverage data-driven segmentation for optimization.

· Innovation & Testing: Conduct quarterly A/B tests and document learnings for continuous improvement.

Vendor & Process Performance


· Vendor Performance: Maintain ≥90% satisfaction and ensure timely delivery of campaign assets.

· Campaign Timeliness & Quality: Ensure campaigns are delivered on time and meet quality standards.

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field.

· 5+ years of experience in digital fundraising or marketing, preferably in the nonprofit sector plus 3+ years in a people leadership role. 

· Proven success managing multi-channel digital campaigns and supporting revenue growth.

· Experience translating strategic fundraising goals into actionable digital plans and tactics.

· Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and forecasting.

· Proficiency with digital tools including Google Analytics, Meta Ads Manager, email marketing platforms (Engaging Networks, Salesforce, MailChimp), and CRM systems (Raiser’s Edge).

· Demonstrated experience in A/B testing, conversion rate optimization, and digital experimentation.

· Ability to synthesize campaign performance data into actionable insights for fundraising leadership.

· Experience managing relationships with external agencies, media partners, and creative vendors.

· Experience managing programs with complex donor segmentation requirements.

· Knowledge of digital compliance standards including CASL, PIPEDA, and PCI requirements.

· Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.

· Passion for social impact and donor-centered fundraising.
