The Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria (ICA) is an award-winning settlement agency that has contributed to Greater Victoria’s vibrant community for over fifty years. ICA’s services range from guiding immigrant entrepreneurs as they create small businesses to supporting vulnerable newcomers to become confident, contributing members of our community. In partnership with more than 500 community partners and generous donors and volunteers, ICA serves as a helping hand, a listening ear, and a tireless advocate for immigrants and refugees.
We are looking for a Recreation Facilitator (Canada Summer Jobs placement position) to assist the Workshops and Training department on the delivery of training initiatives. In this role, you will provide specific support on recreation programming such as sewing programs and sports programs. Additionally, you will support the Workshops and Training team with development of workshop materials and promotional content, as needed. Reports to Training Coordinator. Serves all individuals, including Black, Indigenous and/or People of Colour, LGBTQ2+ and Indigenous, and those with diverse abilities. Reports to the Training Coordinator. Some evening work will be required.
What you will bring to the role:
· A passion for helping others and a positive mindset.
· Experience and confidence delivering presentations, trainings, and workshops.
· Familiarity with curriculum development and adult learning practices.
· Strong understanding of cultural sensitivity, equity and diversity.
· Strong writing and communication skills.
· Strong administrative skills, including data management.
· Strong computer proficiency, including experience with client management databases, M365, Canva, and Moodle.
· Interest in the social service, not-for-profit and/or multicultural environment.
· Proficiency in a settlement/resettlement language preferred.
· This position requires proof of WHMIS training, and a criminal record check that includes vulnerable populations check.
Additional assets we value:
· Post-secondary education in social sciences, refugee/forced migration studies, community development, adult education, or related fields or combination of education, training, and experience.
· Keen understanding of diversity issues to work with persons from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
· Multilingualism an asset.

· Youth between the ages of 15-30 years (at date of hire) that are underrepresented in the labour market - which includes:

o Indigenous youth
o 2SLGBTQ2I youth

Contract duration: July 7, 2025 – August 29, 2025 (8 weeks)
Compensation and hours: This position starts at $27.61 per hour, working a maximum of 280 hours over the entire term.
