Qualifications:
Summary Statement:
The Recreation Coordinator will assist in recreation programming at Taylor View Towers that promotes independence and variety for the residents.
Relationships:
Recreation Programming: 30%-40%
Resident Support: 30%-40%
· Keeping the Resident’s preference and needs at the center of all decision conversations and actions, and that they are accurately captured in their care plan.
· Reports necessary changes regarding the Resident Care/Service Plan as per request of the Resident as it relates to recreational services.
· Collaborating with the care partner team to create a community where residents are safe, respected and comfortable.
· Understanding the domains of well-being and working with the team to bring them to daily life.
Administrative: 20%-30%
Training and Support: 5%
· Demonstrates delegated services to care partners as per accepted practice standards
· Under the guidance of the Recreation Therapists and in accordance with the preferences of the residents and our well-being strategies (community policy and procedure), local, provincial, and federal regulations.
· Actively participating in community learning circles, meetings, and events.
· Ensure care partners have required knowledge and resources to lead activities if required.
· Participate in ongoing educational programs.
Health & Safety: 10%-15%
· Follows and enforces the Emergency Management Plan, Infection Control protocol, WHMIS, and Health & Safety Wellness Strategies.
· Audits and identifies any health, safety, or maintenance issues, and reports/documents as required.
Projects and Assignments:
· Performs a variety of other projects and assignments as required
Education
· Grade 12 Diploma or recognized equivalent is required
· A certificate or diploma in recreation is required, or a minimum of five years of experience in a similar role.
Experience
· Experience training in coordinating recreation programs and services. 1 year minimum.

· Oral / Written Communication – must be able to read, write and speak fluently in English.

· Ability to effectively deal with difficult and/or crisis situations.

· Demonstrates an awareness/knowledge of the importance of health and safety; accident and injury prevention; and adheres to safe work practices and procedures.
Working Conditions:
· The ability to move freely about, lift, or push up to 50 lbs., and frequent stooping, kneeling, reaching, bending, and standing.
· Work in stressful and potentially emotionally charged situations.

- Specializing in programming and responsible for planning and organizing, alongside the guidance of the Recreation Therapist.
- Overseeing recreational activities and events within a community, organization, or facility. The role involves designing a variety of engaging programs tailored to different age groups, interests, and abilities, ensuring they are both enjoyable and accessible.
- Plan and prepare monthly calendar, marketing and yearly schedule for events (shared with applicable of care partner) for planning purposes e.g. hospitality services
- Assist in the planning of menus for special occasions or themes.
- Monitors, orders and reports inventory of recreational supplies as per budget i.e.: crafts, bingo etc.
- Prepare monthly recreation reports as required.
- Write, edit and publish the monthly newsletter and calendar of events as required.
- Manages programs and ensures that Recreation Aides have the necessary equipment to execute them.
