Recreation Aide - Casual

Key Responsibility Areas (% Range of Focus):
Provides and evaluates the delivery of recreational services based on the Resident Care Plan and Service Plan
Resident Support:
· Supports the Resident’s lifestyle in their Community environment in accordance with the Resident’s individualized Care Plan as authorized by Homecare.
· Reports necessary changes regarding the Resident Care/Service Plan as per request of the Resident as it relates to recreational services.
· Supports the residents in identifying personal leisure barriers and consults with Recreation Therapist in designing intervention
· Assists with daily life within the Community, as needed, in a variety of ways beyond recreation-specific practices, such as serving meals, doing light housekeeping, removing trash, assisting Residents, and leading Learning Circles.
· Maintains professional boundaries & confidentiality to protect vulnerable residents.
Administrative:
· Participates in the development of Well-Being Strategies
· Adheres to Health Services Contracts
· Monitors and reports inventory of recreational supplies
· Address unscheduled Housing/Service Plan needs as required based on Well-Being Strategies
· Completing recreation specific documentation & progress notes
Qualifications:
Relationships:
· Reports to: Recreation Therapist Supervisor
· Internal Contacts: Residents, Family Members, Employee Care Partners
· External Contacts: Vendors
Training and Support:
· Attends and actively participates in various committees/meetings providing advice/ input
· Demonstrates delegated services to care partners as per accepted practice standards
· Educates Care Partners (residents, families, employees) on the benefits of recreational services and assists them in practicing these skills
· Abides by the regulations as set out by their applicable Association
Projects and Assignments:
· Performs a variety of other projects and assignments as required
Education
Grade 12 Diploma or recognized equivalent is required
A diploma in recreation with a specialization in therapeutic recreation or a Degree in Recreation Therapy, Leisure Studies, or Recreation Administration is required
Experience
· Experience in recreation programs and providing recreation therapist services.

freely about, lift, or push up to 50 lbs., and frequent stooping, kneeling,
reaching, bending, and standing.

potentially emotionally charged situations.
