Receiving Clerk 

 

Position Summary 

The Receiving Clerk is responsible for processing incoming customer equipment accurately and efficiently. This role supports daily receiving operations by ensuring all equipment is properly logged, documented, and routed to the appropriate lab areas in alignment with company processes. 

This position plays a critical role in maintaining workflow, data accuracy, and overall turnaround time by ensuring work is completed consistently and without delays. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Receive, sort, and log incoming equipment from customer drop-offs, shipments, and internal transfers. 

  • Verify equipment against purchase orders and supporting documentation. 

  • Accurately enter data into internal systems (manufacturer, model, serial numbers, special requests, etc.). 

  • Create work orders and attach all required documentation. 

  • Identify and flag priority work (rush, warranty, new accounts). 

  • Route equipment to appropriate lab areas based on service requirements. 

  • Maintain accurate logs (morning counts, customer pickups, new accounts, etc.). 

  • Process customer drop-offs and pickups, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation.  

  • Assist with new account setup by gathering and entering required information.  

  • Identify missing or incomplete information and follow up as needed.  

  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of receiving and staging areas.  

  • Follow all receiving processes and SOPs to ensure consistency and accuracy. 

  • Communicate issues or delays that may impact workflow or turnaround time.  

  • Support team workflow to ensure steady throughput and avoid bottlenecks. 

 

Qualifications 

 

Education 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required  

Experience 

  • 1–2 years of experience in receiving, logistics, data entry, or a related role preferred  

  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment preferred  

Skills & Competencies 

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy  

  • Ability to follow processes and complete tasks consistently  

  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn internal systems  

  • Strong organization and time management skills  

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work  

  • Effective communication and teamwork
