SUMMARY

A radiation therapy aide supports radiation therapists by preparing treatment rooms, positioning and preparing patients for procedures, maintaining equipment and supplies, and assisting with patient transport and scheduling. They also help with patient-related tasks like check-in and rooming and manage paperwork and inventory for the department. This role requires strong technical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal skills for compassionate patient care. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Essential Duties:

·        Rooming patients, assisting with patient transport, and helping patients get on and off treatment tables.

·        Providing patient education for pre-treatment preparations and ensuring patient comfort during procedures.

·        Assisting with patient check-in and coordination of appointments.

·        Preparing and stocking treatment rooms with linens and necessary supplies.

·        Assisting with the maintenance and storage of equipment and supplies.

·        Support Radiation Therapists.

·        Processing paperwork and maintaining inventory of medical supplies.

·      Working closely with radiation therapists and other members of the oncology team to ensure smooth and effective patient care. 

·        Attends mandatory company training sessions as required by state/federal law where applicable.

 

Responsibilities

  1. Work co-operatively within a multidisciplinary team and assist other team members to achieve team objectives and work outcomes.  
  2. Provide excellent customer service.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Healthcare experience preferred

· Strong communication skills

· Ability to assist patients physically

· CPR/BLS certification (or willing to obtain)

· Ability to use clinical administration systems as well as Microsoft Office Software
