Job Description

The Quality Specialist plays a critical role in our Auburn, MA facility ensuring that the specified level of quality has been achieved, as designated through Corrosion Materials' quality system, established standards such as Level 1 / Subsafe, ISO 9001:2015, Federal, ASTM, ASME, ANSI, and customer requirements. This position has a large impact in ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities and Duties

At a minimum, the following is a basic description of typical duties and responsibilities expected of the Quality Specialist:

  • Review and interpret material specifications, standards, and customer purchase orders that pertain to chemistry, mechanical properties, testing, and/or dimensional characteristics of Corrosion Materials’ products, and make decisions concerning the practical applications of products under conditions set forth by such documents. 
  • Apply principles and implement practices of the quality system in all aspects as established by ISO 9001:2015; formulate and maintain quality control objectives and coordinate these objectives with system operating procedures and other management principles to maximize quality performance; follow quality system procedures for all operations in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 and Level 1 / Subsafe requirements.
  • Effectively interact with all departments including Sales, Shipping & Receiving, Warehouse, Machine Shop, Administration, Purchasing, and any level of management when necessary.
  • Assist in the Receiving process (Q.A. check), particularly for Level 1 / Subsafe orders.
  • Oversee performance of all inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials (full traceability) and products.
  • Investigate all measurable areas of system performance such as customer complaints, mistakes, material returns, internal improvements, preventative action requests and corrective action requests and make adjustments in the quality system to improve performance for such, if applicable. 
  • Participate as part of Supplier Quality Audit team.  Some travel required depending on needs of quality audit team.
  • To be trained to operate PMI (Positive Material Identification) Analyzer per CMI procedure.
  • Contribute to the general activities of Quality, maintaining current awareness of department workflow, especially high priority projects, to keep department balance and efficiency to assure that deadlines are met.
  • Prepare and present reports and formal documents to management, customers, and vendors as appropriate in conducting business activities of the Quality Control Department.
