KOMAN Government Solutions, LLC (KGS) is a fast-paced environmental consulting, remediation, and construction company providing both public- and private-sector clients with a broad range of environmental and construction-related services.

Our team is growing! We have an immediate need for a full-time Quality Control Manager/Site Safety and Health Officer in our Marlborough, MA location. This role provides direct oversight and review of the entire documentation and physical inspection phase of the workflow process.  The QC Manager/SSHO works and communicated directly with Project Managers, Superintendents, etc. and external personnel. Department of Defense experience preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

           Business Development:

  • Cultivate and maintain client relationships onsite

  • Support technical/cost proposal efforts

  • Support sales and marketing

    Quality Control:

  • Assist with implementation of Project QA/QC Program and monitor for compliance.

  • Review and understand contract specifications, the scope of work, and exclusions outlined in the contract and related industry standards.

  • Conduct inspections of workmanship and materials.

  • Execute the Quality Control program.

  • Act in all quality assurance and control matters for the Company.

  • Develop reports and photo documentation

  • Attend contractor QA/QC meetings and monitor issues and concerns noted in the meeting minutes. Develop agendas and take minutes where required.

  • Manage the Quality Control (QC) process including scheduling, daily inspections and results reporting.

  • Operate project management software to interface with submittal of daily QC reports, weekly CPR’s and other documentation required for KOMAN’s monthly progress payment applications.

  • Ensure Client and KOMAN mandated documentation is properly completed and, submitted to appropriate reporting authority.

  • Coordinate with Government project management personnel and subcontractors to ensure proper QC procedures and documentation are performed and maintained.

  • Must be able to develop material submittals. Review submittals for completeness and accuracy.

  • Review construction work and materials against construction documents and document the QC process in accordance with NAVFAC and USACE procedures.

  • Manage the USACE 3-Phase inspection system.

    Site Safety and Health Officer:

  • Organize the job site so that it meets all safety regulations: USACE (EM385.11) or other government contractor requirements; OSHA, state and other regulatory agency regulations; installation requirements; and All Phase’s standards as outlined in the Work Plan and the Accident Prevention Plan (APP).

  • Certify that all equipment meets safety standards as outlined by the project work plan, OSHA regulations and USACE & other contracting agency regulations.

  • Coordinate with the site superintendent/QCM to create and maintain a culture of safety on the job site.

  • Job duties also entail enforcement of the approved Accident Prevention Plan, EM385-1-1 and any and all hazards and safety issues at the project site. Must be familiar with all applicable laws and regulations.

  • Perform safety and occupational health management, surveillance, inspections, and safety enforcement.

  • Enforcing and adherence to EM 385-1-1

  • Conduct training as needed for the company

  • Conduct daily safety and health inspections, maintaining and providing complete and accurate documentation of such inspection

  • Conduct daily safety training/education, maintaining and providing complete and accurate documentation of such training/education

  • Conduct accident/incident reports assist with the internal investigation

  • Maintain applicable safety reference material on the job site

  • Attend meetings related to the job site

  • Implement and enforce the Site Specific Accident Prevention Plan

  • Conduct Activity Hazard Analyses

  • Ensure complete job site compliance with safety and health requirements

  • Maintain a list of hazardous chemicals on site and their SDS data sheets

  • Act as the Competent Person on job site

  • Act as SSHO

    Supervision/Mentoring of Staff:

  • Resource management

  • Performance management

  • Development of employees

  • Identification of stretch goals and assignments

  • Understanding and support of the career goals of employees

  • Identification of new talent/field labor

     ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, in civil engineering or construction management, preferred, with four years of construction/environmental/safety experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • Computer skills required: Microsoft Office Suite, Scheduling software, and Abode.

  • Certificates, licenses, and registrations required: Minimum- OSHA 40 hr HazWOPER; OSHA 8 hr HazWOPER Supervisor Certification; OSHA 30 hr Construction Safety; USACE/NAVFAC CQCM Training desired.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.  Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.  Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style.  Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
