Quality Assurance Team Leader

Reports To: Quality Assurance Coordinator

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Your position is responsible for providing professional and dependable service and to develop our Team’s capability to deliver JEC’s key objectives to all our customers and suppliers. You will have a complete understanding of all customer/supplier requirements.

Your understanding of JEC’s Business Management System Manual, the associated BMS policies, processes, and their interaction is imperative. A commitment to JEC’s philosophy of Safety, Morale, Quality, Cost, Delivery & Environment is a requirement.

This role will be measured against specific targets as noted in the departmental business plan.


SUMMARY

To ensure customer and company manufacturing concerns meet daily quality expectations.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•Maintain open communication with all departments in regards to quality assurance

•Investigate all manufacturing errors and make recommendations for corrective action to be taken

•Assist with the internal containment and repair of defective parts

•Update current documents, SOP's and create new SOP's as new parts are introduced

•Provide training to associates as necessary

•Audit manufacturing processes each month within each department

•Measuring final products with various measurement tools (Datamyte data collector, measurement probes and taper gauge)

•Assisting New Model Department with measurement completion, participate in trial activities including testing of equipment (Cpk completion, KGZ Activity)

•Complete and accurate recording of results; data is downloaded into database

•Reporting non-conformances to the quality and production coordinators or managers at daily Production meeting

•Take appropriate actions to ensure any nonconformity found is corrected immediately including jig adjustments and validations as needed

Accurate Record Keeping including weekly data filing (electronic)

•Ability to read and interpret technical part drawings and dimensions

•Communicate with all departments of current QA issues

•Oversee temporary associates as required

•Manage and maintain workflow in the QA Hold Area

•Other duties may be assigned


LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly oversees associates in the Quality Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Participates in planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent/relevant experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend instruction, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write day to day correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply understanding to carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

•ISO/TS 16949 training is an asset

•Knowledge of basic SPC and MSA is an asset

•Basic First Aid training will be provided

COMPUTER SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
