Quality Assurance Supervisor

This position is located near Westmount Mall

SCHEDULE:

This is a Full-Time, 37.5 hr/wk position, generally working Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 4:00 pm. This position requires the flexibility to work evenings or weekends occasionally and to participate in an on-call rotation.

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Quality Assurance Supervisor collaborates with, and contributes, to the broader operational and/or organizational leadership. 

The key responsibilities of this position include ensuring compliance with all licensing and regulatory requirements and providing supervisory support to frontline employees. 

To fulfill these responsibilities, this role involves coaching and mentoring, licensing, training, and Occupational Health and Safety. Supervisors are regularly called upon to undertake special projects, assignments and/or tasks, including representing the organization on internal and external committees. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify changes that can improve implementation of best practice. 
  • Ensure compliance with licensing requirements and legislative standards including those of Alberta Health Services, Alberta Health regulations, Accommodation Standards and other legislation.
  • Develop accountability, effectiveness and sustainability
  • Ensure staff have the tools and know how to use those tools to provide high quality of care
  • Supervise front line staff in a residential and day program setting.
  • Ensure the health and safety of individuals, staff, and community members at all worksites
  • Ensure familiarity with and compliance with OHS standards
  • Ensure individuals are encouraged to exercise their rights and responsibilities to make life choices and participate actively in meaningful, respectful, and genuine relationships that fit with and support their goals and desire
  • Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

  • Background in Disability Supports Services 
  • Supervisory and/or leadership experience  
  • Knowledge about social and health services and program delivery 
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (maintained) / 2M Liability Insurance (required annually) / Driver’s Abstract (required every 3 years) and use of a personal vehicle are requirements of this position 
  • Vulnerable Sector Security Clearance (to be provided every 3 years) 
  • Basic/Emergency or Intermediate/Standard First Aid Level C with CPR certification

Preferred Qualifications and Proficiencies:

  • Internal candidates will be given preference
  • Experience on a Joint Health and Safety Committee 
  • OH&S related training 
  • Familiarity with licensing requirements in the disability sector 
  • Experience working as a team leader or service coordinator in disability services 
  • Education and/or training in Public Administration, Social work or a relevant discipline 
  • Experience working in a policy and procedure review or a writing environment 
  • Ability to evaluate and implement processes and systems. 
  • Ability to participate in and foster an inclusive, team-work oriented environment 
  • Well-developed, adaptable written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to use time and priority-management skills to balance competing demands/priorities and deal with competing opinions. This includes knowing when it is appropriate to ask for assistance or refer to more experienced staff. 
  • Understanding of opportunities, resources and options available to persons with diverse abilities to support their participation and inclusion.  
  • Ability to support the development of an effective community network and interact effectively with others in the individual's social network. 
  • Well-developed computer skills including internet searching, the use of spreadsheets and basic financial, database and analysis programs. 
  • Ability to perform front line duties to support and coach staff
