Minimum 5 years of surgical technologist, instrument processing, or central sterile processing experience required. Related education may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Highly effective written and verbal communication skills necessary to support the operational efficiency of the organization. Effective organizational and time management skills and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.

Under the general direction of the Director of Central Material Services, the Quality Assurance Specialist will ensure Central Material Services (CMS) employees are properly trained and operating within the guidelines set forth by various industry standards and regulations including, but not limited to, HSPA[, CDC[AD2] , OSHA[AD3] , FDA[AD4] , ADA[AD5] , ADEA [AD6] and AAMI[AD7] . Performs various other training duties related to instrument processing, infection control and cross contamination as necessary. Includes alternate satellite sites as needed to conduct and document training.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct orientation and training of new employees.

OTHER:Certification through the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CPSPD) as a Central Supply Processing Department Technician (CSPDT) or Certification through Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) within 24 months is required.

Required Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:Comprehensive knowledge of the theory. Knowledge of spreadsheets, databases and work processing using Microsoft Office applications. Highly demonstrated interpersonal skills and abilities necessary to handle sensitive and confidential situations with tact and diplomacy and to interact with diverse groups of people both within and outside the organizationHighly effective written and verbal communication skills necessary to support the operational efficiency of the organization. ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:Employees in this job class may be required to receive immunization shots to prevent illness due to exposure to blood borne pathogens. Overtime, weekend, on-call and shift work may be required.
