Senior Quality Engineer/Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance Program Specialist with credentials and experience to support and lead key areas of our QA organization, including:
- Project quality planning, document review, and customer interface
- Internal and supplier audits under out NQA-1 compliant program
- Oversight of nondestructive examination (NDE) certifications per SNT-TC-1A
- Mentoring and certifying QA/QC personnel across multiple fabrication projects
This is a critical technical leadership role that supports multiple fabrication and ensures compliance with DOE, ASME, and customer specific requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Quality & Technical Support
- Participate in design reviews and evaluate technical documentation for code and customer compliance (ASME, AWS, DOE specs)
- Develop and optimize Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), quality control procedures, and acceptance criteria
- Review and approve QA documentation (plans, travelers, certification)
- Support complex fabrication projects including gloveboxes, vessels, pipe skids, structural weldments, and complex assemblies
- Provide input to proposals, compliance matrices, and technical justifications
- Interface with customers on QA/NDE issues, corrective actions, and field responses
- Assist engineering, procurement, and fabrication teams with interpreting technical specifications, weld procedures, and material requirements
Audit & Quality System Support
- Lead and execute internal, supplier, and external audits under NQA-1 and 1- CFR 50 App B
- Maintain audit schedules, findings, and corrective actions
- Conduct surveillances and risk based effectiveness reviews
- Support customer audits
NDE Program Leadership
- Maintain and implement AVANTech's SNT-TC-1A Written practice
- Oversee certification of Level I and II personnel in RT, UT, PT, MT, LT
- Approve NDE procedures, interpret results, and support project specific NDE activities
- Provide hands on and technical support for inspections when needed
Team Development
- Mentor QA/QC personnel in technical evaluation, inspection practices, and certification readiness
- Contribute to KPI development and QA program improvement
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in technical, QA/NDE within nuclear, DOE, or ASME environments
- Proficient in reading technical drawings, codes, procedures, and quality documentation
- Strong communication skills and confidence interfacing with regulators and customer QA personnel
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline; experience in quality engineering in a fabrication or manufacturing environment strongly preferred
- CWI or ASNT Level III certification (VT, RT, PT, MT, or UT)
- Familiarity with ASME Section VIII, B31.3, AWS D1.1 and NBIC
- Familiarity with project management tools or systems
- Experience supporting QA programs for DOE/NRC-regulated projects
- Familiarity with fabrication of gloveboxes, columns, tanks, or high-purity piping systems
- Experience developing quality metrics and performance indicators
