About the Role:

The Purchasing Assistant will be responsible for placing purchase orders as given by the Purchasing Manager. This will include creating accurate purchase orders, pricing products, ensuring accuracy of product numbers, and communicating with stores. This role works with store managers and vendors to ensure that the stores are stocked and replenished with the necessary products. The Purchasing Clerk will also assist the department with inventory management and, when needed, various other tasks. Position reports to the Purchasing Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Order current product lines within the criteria set by the Purchasing Manager.
  • Maintain part numbers attributes, such as product lines, product supersessions, costs, and pricing.
  • Update part minimum and maximum’s as necessary based on product selling volume.
  • Assist locating product for stores - idle or special order.
  • Research vendors and collects prices, specifications, and other data related to goods and services.
  • Develop a schedule around ordering to ensure timeliness.
  • Establishes and maintains a recordkeeping system.
  • Provides administrative and clerical support to the department.
  • Protect self and co-workers by maintaining a safe and clean office environment.
  • Understand and comply with all Company policies.

About You:       

The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • A minimum of 1 years’ experience of purchasing, data entry, and basic inventory control.
  • Familiarity with automotive parts is desired but not required.
  • Database management skills.
  • Ability to reconcile stock counts to report data.
  • Strong attention to detail is a must.
  • Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
  • Ability to work independently or in a group.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior office work environment.
