Purchasing and Inventory Control Clerk
Consolidated Gypsum Supply Ltd. has been distributing building supply materials in Western Canada since 1977. We are currently looking for a full-time Purchasing and Inventory Control Clerk to join our team in Edmonton, AB.
Reporting to the Branch/Operations Manager, this position is responsible for purchasing goods, managing inventory and coordinating activities related to procuring at the branch level.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Order all resale inventory at the branch level including showroom products, bulk purchases, and winter bookings.
- Issue and expedite vendor purchase orders as required.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
- Schedule/book receiving appointments.
- Process material returns efficiently.
- Conduct monthly inventory cycle counts with Branch/Operations Manager.
- Coordinate freight for special/stocking items needed by the Sales Department.
- Support the Sales Team in forecasting and acquiring products for upcoming projects.
- Manage vendor credit requests.
- Review and adjust min/max SKU report quarterly.
- Analyze and print various SKU reports.
- Ensure SKUs comply with company standards.
- Implement strategies to eliminate SKUs as directed by the Branch/Ops Manager.
- Collaborate with the Branch/Ops Manager to develop action plans for inventory management.
- Conduct quarterly reviews of SKUs, resetting reorder points and maximum stocking quantities as needed.
- Oversee all communications with branch vendors.
- Print and review the "Low Inventory" report daily, implementing necessary actions.
- Perform weekly physical inspections of inventory in the operations department.
- Manage all SKUs to maximize inventory turns.
- Review and approve branch transfer requests.
- Enforce company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Branch/Operations Manager.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous buying experience, preferably building supplies
- Diploma or certificate in Supply Chain Management
- Previous experience in warehouse inventory management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and effectively manage time
- Superior attention to detail and accuracy
