Psychiatrist

Schedule Requirement: Must be available a minimum of 3 days per week
The Psychiatrist is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with mental health and emotional disorders in accordance with Connecticut Department of Public Health and State Medical Board regulations. The psychiatrist provides evidence-based care, including psychotherapy and pharmacologic interventions, while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to promote patient recovery, wellness, and stability.

Key Responsibilities-
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including medical, psychological, and social history assessments.

Diagnose and manage mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders using evidence-based approaches.

Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans tailored to patient needs.

Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications safely and effectively.

Provide crisis intervention, risk assessment, and stabilization as needed.

Collaborate with therapists, social workers, nurses, and primary care providers to ensure coordinated, holistic care.

Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, medications, and treatment options.

Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with HIPAA and organizational standards.

Participate in case reviews, quality assurance programs, and continuing education to maintain licensure and professional competency.

Ensure adherence to all Connecticut and federal laws governing psychiatric practice, including controlled substance management and patient confidentiality.

Active and unrestricted Connecticut Medical License (MD or DO).

Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Psychiatry (ABPN preferred).

Completion of an accredited residency program in Psychiatry; fellowship training in a subspecialty (e.g., Child/Adolescent, Geriatric, Addiction, Forensic) a plus.

Current DEA and Connecticut Controlled Substance Registration (CSP) licenses.

Current BLS/ACLS certification.

Minimum 2 years of clinical experience preferred (newly licensed psychiatrists will be considered).

Strong interpersonal, diagnostic, and therapeutic skills.

Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Must be available a minimum of 3 days per week, with flexibility for telehealth or in-person sessions.

Experience providing care in outpatient, inpatient, or telepsychiatry settings.

Ability to manage diverse caseloads including mood, anxiety, psychotic, and substance use disorders.

Familiarity with trauma-informed and culturally competent care models.

Strong collaboration and communication skills with multidisciplinary teams.
