About the Role

illi is seeking a Property Management Accounting Manager to lead the accounting operations for our managed commercial real estate portfolio. This individual will oversee and mentor a team of Property Accountants and manage A/P and A/R processes to ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial reporting. The ideal candidate will bring strong property management accounting experience, exceptional leadership abilities, and a commitment to continuous improvement. This role is critical to supporting operational teams and delivering financial transparency to our clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for all managed properties

  • Review and approve invoices, owner distributions, tenant billings, CAM reconciliations, and budgets

  • Ensure accurate coding, approvals, and processing of A/P & A/R transactions

  • Partner with Property Management leadership on budget planning, variance analysis, and forecasting

  • Ensure compliance and identify opportunities to improve internal controls and accounting policies

  • Support onboarding and accounting transitions for new property acquisitions or dispositions

  • Collaborate with external auditors or client representatives during audits, maintain audit-ready schedules and documentation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial property accounting experience, including team supervision

  • Proficiency in GAAP and lease accounting practices specific to real estate

  • Expertise with accounting platforms such as Yardi, Appfolio (preferred), Google Sheets, and Excel

  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills

  • In-depth knowledge of lease structures and CAM reconciliation processes

All final candidates will be required to complete a bookkeeping proficiency assessment to evaluate technical accuracy and financial acumen.
