We are excited to announce that Alamo Drafthouse is opening its Indianapolis location in late October 2024! We are hiring for multiple positions, including a Projectionist! Paid training and group orientation will take place the week of October 9th to prepare for the opening.


Job Description

Our Projectionist is the first line of defense against anything less than a world-class presentation. They ensure that Alamo Drafthouse sets the highest standards of quality in public exhibitions and are also on hand for special events, private parties, business meetings, or any technical situation requiring expertise to deliver excellent presentations on our screens.

Core Role Responsibilities:

• Uphold standards of behavior per our Core Values, Code of Conduct, and Operational Guidelines

• Maintain the highest safety standards and follow all protocols to keep teams and guests healthy

• Be responsible for all content allocation and ensure playlists meet the correct show flow

• Track special event needs that require coverage

• Ensure picture and audio meet company presentation standards with daily checks

• Report any visual or audio issues to the Presentation department

• Check the ticket monitor to ensure shows are in the correct auditoriums for technical needs

• Monitor bookings and private event calendars for additions or cancellations

• Keep the projection booth clean, organized, and safe at all times

• Follow daily, weekly, and monthly task checklists

• Safely change xenon lamps in 35mm and digital systems

• Repair and maintain various cinema AV equipment

• Complete any other tasks assigned by the Technical Manager


Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of digital projection systems

• Ability to perform preventative maintenance

• Knowledge of digital cinema file types and distribution

• Basic IT technical skills and troubleshooting

• Experience with audio-visual systems (mixers, PA systems)

• Basic knowledge of video and audio cable types

• Comprehensive knowledge of 35mm projection systems is a plus

• Strong attention to detail

• Knowledge of cinema audio systems

• Experience with organization suites like Google Docs and Airtable

• Ability to work efficiently without direct supervision

• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations

• Willingness to work unusual hours (evenings and weekends)
