Sulphur, LA
Why Altrad Sparrows?
Altrad Sparrows is a global leader in specialist engineering, inspection, operations, and maintenance services for the offshore energy, renewables, and industrial markets. Part of the Altrad Group — with over 52,000 employees worldwide and headquarters in France — we operate across the Americas, Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific.
We exist to keep critical equipment running safely and efficiently. If you're an engineer who wants your work to matter at a global scale, you've found your place.
The Role
Based in Sulphur, Louisiana — a key gateway to the Gulf Coast's petrochemical and offshore energy corridor — this role puts you at the intersection of crane engineering, mechanical handling, and offshore project management for industrial and energy clients across the region.
This isn't a desk-in-the-corner role. As a Project Engineer, you'll be at the center of the action — managing crane, service, and mechanical handling projects from inquiry through close-out. You'll wear both a project management and design hat, working across a talented technical team and engaging directly with clients.
What You'll Do
- Lead end-to-end project engineering: proposals, scoping, estimating, planning, execution, and close-out
- Prepare and submit RFQ bid proposals and technical/commercial proposals for clients
- Manage project financials, BOM preparation, procurement follow-up, and workpack development
- Drive design project management, including engineering calculations, drawings, method statements, and implementation procedures
- Conduct site and offshore surveys and produce detailed reports
- Collaborate across the Technical Group to hit milestones and keep clients informed
- Maintain engineering registers, project files, and time-writing records with precision
What You Bring
Education:
- Degree in Mechanical, Structural, or Civil Engineering
Experience:
- 0–5+ years in a relevant engineering or project role
- Solid knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical control systems
- Familiarity with cranes and/or mechanical handling equipment
- Working knowledge of engineering standards (API, AISC, ASTM, AWS, SAE)
- Strong technical report writing and communication skills
- Proven ability to juggle multiple projects and work both independently and collaboratively
- Experience in customer-facing or client liaison environments is a plus
Safety Is Non-Negotiable
At Altrad Sparrows, safety isn't a checkbox — it's a core value. You'll actively participate in our HSEQ culture: conducting safety observations, reporting incidents, ensuring risks are assessed and communicated, and leading by example every single day.
