The Project Coordinator / Quantity Surveyor -EIT position will play a role in our project planning.  this position involves a mix of field and office work, requiring the successful candidate to travel to site regularly.  With strong analytical skills this position will participate in project planning of workforce, TNDC fleet and TNDC supervision to ensure all necessary assets are available to complete project goals.  

Responsibilities

Description of responsibilities:

  • Aid with critical task procedures and safe work practices. 
  • Interface with client department managers to identify upcoming customer projects.
  • Perform workface planning and schedule for work requirements and aid with task planning and scheduling for packages for the field teams.
  • Coordinate with TNDC fleet / TNDC supervision to ensure tools, equipment and materials are available to complete task assignments.
  • Coordinate and interface with Field Foreman, GF's, Superintendents on daily work tasks and quantity tracking.
  • Coordinate and interface with Project Controls team. 
  • Report to Construction Manager on daily progress and scheduling at field level. 
  • Monitoring and documenting of ongoing construction activities, quantities, and processes to produce daily, weekly, and monthly production reporting and planning to ensure milestones are met.
  • Validate client-provided project budgets and resource requirements. 
  • Aid in the preparation of the daily change order system and RFI process. 
  • Analyze all daily construction activities to coordinate short and long-term construction plans with the project manager. 
  • Analyze all daily Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Provides leadership for the development of a "safety culture" for all field activities.
  • Perform other duties as required. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering / Quantity Surveyor preferred. 
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in Civil, Mining, Industrial Construction; preference is given to experience with tailings dam construction and or underground mining.
  • Demonstrated past Quantity Surveying experience, interfacing with Project Controls reporting. 
  • Professional Engineering designation in British Columbia is an asset.
  • Advanced computer skills with MS Word, Excel, Power BI, and P6 scheduling program. 
  • Experience working in a remote mining,  construction , project settings preferred. 
  • Emphasis on Civil Earthworks quantity tracking. 
  • Able to make recommendations, take action, and make proactive decisions based on strong technical proficiency and significant business experience/acumen. Takes forward-looking view of future team development and growth. 
  • Able to report effectively at granular level of detail and summary level detail to various project, client and internal stakeholders. 
  • Expert knowledge of construction technology, methods, equipment, tools, procedures, and scheduling.
  • Excellent English verbal/written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills.

Conditions of Employment

  • Ability to pass a mandatory pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
  • First Aid Certification (Level 1)
