Project Area Manager – Tailing storage facilities (TSF) and water management / Responsable de secteur – Installations de stockage des résidus miniers et gestion de l'eau
Reporting to the project manager, the project area manager – (TSF) and water management will be responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant management of TSF and water management systems within a mining operation. He or she will work in the Montreal office, on a schedule of five (5) working days followed by two (2) days off, with regular visits to the Windfall site. Transportation, accommodation, and meals will be provided when traveling to the site.
FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards, regulations, and safety protocols;
• Manage and allocate resources efficiently for optimal project execution;
• Develop and implement engineering, procurement and construction strategies to meet project goals and objectives;
• Foster collaboration and effective communication among engineering, procurement and construction teams;
• Define scope requirements for functional teams to ensure that all areas of scope, cost and schedule are adequately addressed;
• Implement plans to identify and manage risk in area scope delivery;
• Manager the co-ordination with other project areas to ensure that there total project outcomes are optimised;
• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and address issues;
• Coordinate with stakeholders to achieve project goals;
• Provide leadership and guidance to engineering teams under supervision;
• Analyse data and reports to make informed decisions for continuous improvement.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree (BAC) in mining engineering, civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or a related field;
• Registered with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);
• Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in construction and project management;
• Hold a valid class 5 driver's license.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
• Bilingualism in English and French (will have to communicate with clients and stakeholders) (an asset);
• Demonstrate project management skills by developing scopes, costs and schedules;
• Ability to write reports;
• Ability to evaluate and review engineering designs, construction strategies and project controls outputs;
• Good understanding of risk management;
• Demonstrate a high degree of business acumen.
BASIC SKILLS
• Demonstrate proficiency in managing large-scale projects;
• Show leadership abilities by providing motivation and guidance to the engineering, procurement and construction teams;
• Ability to work in collaboration with functions and other areas during scope delivery;
• Ability to conduct thorough site inspections and evaluations;
• Proficiency in data analysis and reporting for performance assessment;
• Familiarity with client and stakeholder coordination in an engineering and construction context;
• Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing, and to build strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders;
• Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
