Reporting to the Electrical Coordinator, the Automation Programmer will be responsible for maintaining and monitoring the control system. He/she will also be involved in project development. He/she must be able to program controllers, operating interfaces and databases. Based at the Windfall site, located in the Nord-du-Québec region, he/she will be required to work a schedule of 15 working days followed by 13 days off. Transportation, lodging and meals provided.
Task and responsibilities
- Assist the engineer and/or senior technician in the design, layout and technical implementation of the instrumentation and automation aspects of projects;
- Controller programming;
- Operator interface programming;
- Instrumentation specification;
- Prepare instrumentation and P&ID detail drawings;
- Follow-up on completed projects and operations;
- Pre-operational checks and commissioning;
- Update drawings and documentation;
- Work in collaboration with other disciplines;
- Work with planning department to create preventive maintenance routes and procedures;
- Participate in the development of operator training;
- Train operators on the operation of man-machine interfaces;
- Comply at all times with health & safety and environmental policies and regulations;
- Carry out any other tasks related to the position of Automation Programmer that are relevant to the success of the project.

Technical competencies
- Knowledge of:
- ABB PLC and HMI;
- ABB ACS880 variable speed drive;
- EATON C445 intelligent starter and Schneider TeSysT
- Programming languages (LADDER, GRAFCET, FBD, ST);
- PROFINET, Ethernet/IP and Modbus communication protocols;
- Basic knowledge of networking;
- DCS Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell Experion and Autocad (an asset).
Qualification required
- College degree in instrumentation and control or automation;
- Have functional spoken English and be able to read and understand documents in English;
- Mining modules 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7;
- Explosives permit;
- Hold a valid class 5 driver's license.
