About the Role
The Program Lead, Family and Children’s Counselling oversees daily operations of the Family and Children’s Counselling Team, providing strategic leadership and supervision. In collaboration with the FYCS Manager, they ensure program goals and deliverables are met. With a strength-based, anti-oppressive, feminist-informed approach, the Lead fosters excellence in service delivery and employee engagement.
The Program Lead reports to the Manager, Family, Youth, and Children’s Services.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the Counselling Team, implementing policies and fostering a shared vision.
- Establish effective communication within the
team.
- Provide direct services as needed, including intake, brief services, and supervised visitation.
- Cover active client cases during staff absences.
- Collaborate with the FYCS Manager and People and Culture team on recruitment, training, supervision, and performance management.
- Ensure service delivery aligns with agency policies, contracts, and compliance requirements.
- Oversee timely entry of client files, reports, and statistics.
- Work with leadership to develop standards, accountability mechanisms, and evaluation processes.
- Ensure CARF accreditation compliance through reports, audits, and evaluations.
- Assist in preparing and managing program budgets.
- Adhere to safety protocols and work safe standards.
- Maintain strong relationships with program stakeholders and community partners.
- Facilitate case management, peer supervision, risk assessment, and professional development.
- Stay informed about SCCSS programs to enhance collaboration.
- Support funding proposals and identify new funding opportunities.
What You Bring
- Post-secondary degree in Social Work, Clinical Counselling, Psychology, or a related field.
- Minimum of two years' experience in program delivery with families and youth, and a strong understanding of relevant issues and client populations.
- Program management experience with demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.
- Knowledge of Local, Provincial, and Federal legislation and regulations relevant to the role.
- Proficient in financial systems, including maintaining balanced budgets and expenditures.
- Proven ability to foster strong team relationships.
- Competent computer skills, including managing online databases, Microsoft Office, and virtual platforms like MS Teams.
- Experience working respectfully and non-judgmentally with clients from diverse cultures, ethnicities, and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Understanding of the impacts of colonization and residential schools on Indigenous peoples.
- Knowledge of violence dynamics affecting marginalized individuals.
- Experience with non-violent crisis intervention, particularly with those facing mental health challenges.
- Ability to apply an anti-oppressive lens and feminist analysis to issues of gender violence affecting children, women, and trans individuals.
- Trauma-informed approach to practice.
- Strong communication, organization, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to prioritize and act on key issues.
- Collaborative approach across programs and with community partners.
- Non-profit sector experience is an asset.

Additional information
- A Class 5 driver’s license is required to travel to different sites or meetings.
- Criminal Record Check (CRC) clearance is required for working with vulnerable populations.
- This is an in-office position
