OVERVIEW: Reporting to the SRCP Supervisor, along with guidance from the SRCP Case Managers, the Program Assistant is responsible for overseeing, booking, communicating with SECFS Direct Services workers and outside collaterals, coordinating and monitoring community-based visiting homes and offices. The Program Assistant will also be responsible for providing a variety of services to the SRCP program Team as needed.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

·     Communicating with SECFS Direct Service Workers (DSW) to book family visits.

·     Working effectively with SAI and SECFS staff.

·     Recruitment of individuals to work as support staff or as caregivers.

·     Communication with the SAI Maintenance team to respond to repairs, moving furniture, and any other needs.

·     Responsible for providing a support function to SCP Coordinators, Support Worker Coordinators, and Case Management staff.

·     Assisting with transportation and the delivery of supplies, equipment, and emergency items within Winnipeg and the SE Communities.

·     Assists Case Managers with crisis responses to House Parents, Respite, and Support Workers.

·     Fulfilling shopping needs of the program; requesting Cheque Requisitions, keeping track of receipts, and submitting them with proper documentation to the finance department.

·     Maintain filing system on Teams.

·     Ensure caregiver checks, reviews, and licenses are prioritized by case managers based on expiry dates and assist with these tasks as need be.

·     Responsible for Meeting minutes.

·     Plan team building opportunities within SAI.

·   Preparing and planning for holidays, celebrations, and participation in community events.

·   Work with teens transitioning out of care to ensure that appropriate support is in place.

·   Work hand in hand with the SAI Wellness Team.

·   Create and deliver relevant training to staff and caregivers.

·   Create resource guild for children, caregivers, and support staff. 

·   Other duties as needed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

          Grade 12 education and three years’ experience in social services.

          Ability to effectively manage conflict.

          Demonstrate knowledge and/or understanding of First Nations perspectives, culture and traditional philosophies.

          Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a community-based environment with a high attention to detail.

          Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet.

          Preference given to those with the ability to communicate in Ojibway.

          Must have a valid Manitoba driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.

          Must have a Clear Child Abuse Registry Check, Adult Abuse Registry Check, Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), and Prior Contact Check and acceptable Drivers Abstract as a condition of employment.
