Professional Development Team - Canada Wide 2024

Barrie, ON Seasonal

The Professional Development team plans, schedules, and hosts a number of  workshop series during the summer season, and prepares work for ready deployment of PD workshops in Fall and Winter seasons.   This multidisciplinary team works largely in Zoom and other online workshop platforms to professionally present high-level industry speakers with confidence to audiences of 15 - 300 participants.  Hosts moderate questions and comments throughout the presentation, and make decisions about which questions are asked at which time.  Sessions are recorded and edited for replay viewing. In 2024, we are seeking PD team members who will support and/or specialize in artistic, administrative or technical workshops.

Our waterfall mentorship model means you will help others to learn things you are already an expert in and others will help you learn things you are working on yourself.   These roles are progressive over the summer and youth are afforded as much scope and responsibility as they are willing and able to handle.  It's a great way to 'level up' in a team setting where your voice and opinions genuinely make a difference daily.

Full-time summer employment contracts range from 8 -16 weeks, May through September. Post-secondary students are welcomed and encouraged to apply for this position as part of their program requirements for a co-op or work placement. Contracts for most roles are offered at the Ontario minimum wage.

Some roles follow a hybrid work structure where employees both work from home or in person, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks and/or personal work preferences. Working from the office/studio/meeting location is encouraged when working on tasks that require a high degree of collaboration.  Training and Workshops may be online or in-person, as needed.

Due to federal funding requirements for this position, eligible applicants must:

  • Be 15 - 30 years of age on their first day of work

  • Be a Canadian citizen, have a permanent resident card, or be protected under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act

  • Be present in Canada while working
