Production Coordinator

We specialize in rebuilding large hydraulic cylinders, repairing heavy industrial equipment, and building large steel fabrications.
We are seeking a Production & Supply Chain Coordinator to play a pivotal role in supporting our manufacturing and rebuild services. This hands-on position requires excellent communication and organizational skills to coordinate production across departments, manage materials and logistics, and support shop operations in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Supply Chain & Purchasing
- Source and purchase components and materials for both jobs and general shop use, ensuring timely procurement to support production schedules.
- Work with Operations Manager and Shop Foreman to coordinate daily production activities and ensure materials and consumables are readily available to ensure jobs flow smoothly.
- Think outside the box to resolve production bottlenecks and support shop improvement initiatives.
- Measure and confirm incoming materials and components against purchase orders.
- Identify and allocate received items to the correct job or location.
- Organize and enter packing slips, material certifications, and other documentation accurately into ERP systems.
- Manage supplier communications regarding lead times, new requests, and order updates.
- Monitor inventory levels and maintain an organized and well-stocked warehouse.
ERP, Administration, and Documentation
- Utilize Infor Visual ERP and Kanbanize to track job progress, enter and check hours, and support overall production visibility.
- Maintain accurate and organized digital records, including purchase orders, shipping documentation, and material traceability.
- Generate purchase orders for sales staff and assist with estimating and shop documentation control as needed.
Customer & Team Relations
- Act as a key liaison between shop, office, and external stakeholders, communicating effectively by phone, email, and face-to-face.
- Provide knowledgeable responses to customer inquiries or connect them with the appropriate technical personnel.
- Be seen as a leader, supporting shop leadership and acting as a central figure in daily coordination.
- Hands-On Support
- Operate forklifts and overhead cranes to receive and move materials as needed.
- Assist with physical shop tasks when needed – this is an all-hands-on-deck role.
- Adapt to changing priorities and urgent work by starting early or staying late as required.
Qualifications:
- 2 to 4 years of experience in a similar role within a fabrication shop, machine shop, or jobbing shop environment.
- Familiarity with industrial manufacturing methods, metal and material properties, and shop processes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints is considered an asset.
- Experience operating forklift and overhead crane is required; certification is preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
- Computer Proficiency – experience with ERP systems (Infor Visual ERP and Kanbanize experience is an asset), as well as proficiency with Outlook and Excel.
- Organized – excellent organizational skills both physically (warehouse, shop, and workspace) and digitally (documentation and systems).

Working Conditions:
- General manufacturing shop specializing in cylinder rebuilds and industrial equipment repairs.
- Fast-paced environment requiring attention to detail and multitasking.
- Overtime as required.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds and walk/stand for extended periods of time in shop area.
- Daily interaction with shop floor staff, suppliers, and customers.
