Production Plant - Lead Hand
Aurora Peat Products produces professional grade Canadian Sphagnum peat moss products that enhance crop productivity and overall growing media quality for a wide range of industries and uses such as: soil mixes for the horticulture market, soil conditioners, mushroom casing material, general vegetable gardening, cannabis, and reforestation seedlings. We are currently looking for Peat Moss Production Plant – Lead Hand
The LEAD HAND position works as a member of the production team with some additional duties to support the production supervisor. The position works closely with the supervisor to ensure efficient and safe operation of the plant. The position requires leadership, reliability, punctuality, strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
Additional responsibilities of Lead Hand:
- Promote and maintain and a safe work environment in compliance with OHS regulations. In Case of Emergency take the proper actions with safety and management
- Follow all company policies and procedures, be a positive example for all others to follow
- Overview plant start-up and shut down when necessary
- Maintain accurate information and records as defined by management where applicable
- Support the production team to meet the production goals and the bales produced are of quality and proper yield, communicate and make changes as required
- Identify and report negative impact issues and support continuous improvement efforts
- Promote good housekeeping practices
- Other duties as assigned
Skill, Knowledge & Experience Requirements:
- Previous experience in a lead-hand role, preferably in a similar industrial/manufacturing environment
- Strong communication, both written and verbal, skills and leadership skills
- Solid computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft programs
- Working knowledge of all balers, forklifts, loaders, and trucks
- Be able to trouble shoot and problems solve minor issues and problems within the production plant
- Be able to perform plant start up and shut down
- Ability to positively influence the workplace and personnel
