Product Line Manager – Laser Bond Inspection

Summary: 

This position supports the strategic business growth of the Laser Bond Inspection market and advancement of Laser Inspection Technology to support it.  Responsible for leading innovation and technology maturation activities by interfacing with internal and external technology leaders. These activities directly engage with a very technical sales process and this role is critical to the commercial success of the product line. 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develop and maintain Laser Bond Inspection Technology Roadmap
  • Identifies technology gaps and opportunities
  • Actively evaluates sales opportunities for feasibility and likelihood of success
  • Guides and manages the application development process to creative and effective solutions
  • Leads and develops advanced analytical techniques to utilize stress wave propagation to interrogate composite bonds
  • Employs experimental tools to validate analytical models and support customer qualifications
  • Supports and completes the qualification process with the customer to achieve production implementation
  • Drive technology maturation (MRL, TRL)
  • Supervise the work of technologists and technicians as requested
  • Design and direct the testing or control of processing procedures, as requested
  • Analyze data and laboratory test results to determine causes of problems and develop solutions
  • Evaluate technical specifications and economic factors relating to process or product design objectives
  • Contribute to the preparation of proposals, budgets, and written reports
  • Participate in planning and evaluating new projects, consulting with others
  • Review a new product or process plans and make recommendations for processing conditions and specifications based on design objectives, such as specific mechanical or physical property enhancements, surface finish, and cost
  • Operate successfully in an AS9100 certified environment

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • B.S. or higher degree – Mechanical or Materials Science and Engineering
  • 5 or more years of experience in aerospace structures and/or composites
  • Knowledge of current composite inspection techniques

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recognized as a technology leader in the field
  • Knowledge of aerospace structures and designs
  • Experience with statistical analysis and design of experiments
  • M.S. degree with more than 5 years of experience
  • Knowledge of shock wave interactions and propagation through materials
  • Experience with finite element modeling to predict fatigue life in materials and structural components
