Structural Truss Systems and Forma Steel Ltd are one of Canada’s premier manufacturers of engineered wood and steel building products. We manufacture our product in Fort Macleod, Alberta, approximately 25 minutes West of Lethbridge, in an enclosed plant that is open all year. We are currently looking to add the following new position to our growing team at our new world class facility in Fort Macleod, AB
Product Development Specialist

Job Summary
The key focus for this role is to solve market problems by providing solutions in product development. This person will improve time to market and time to revenue for new products and improvements on existing products. From research and development through to product launch and customer support, this role is critical for further development and growth for our group of companies.
Key Responsibilities
· Product R&D: In depth knowledge of product features, function, and benefits. Improve development & utilization of existing products & develop plans to adopt or create new product lines.
· Product Education: Educate sales teams on product specifications, uses, and installation. Conduct demonstrations and product knowledge sessions for sales teams and customers alike
· Customer & Market Analysis: Understand customer product needs, analyze market trends, identify opportunities and develop strategies to improve product performance
· Product Launch Collaboration: Ensure all stakeholders including design and sales teams, production and operations teams, marketing, finance and shared services teams are collaborated with and effectively communicated with regarding each step of the product development process

Key Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent Post Secondary education in a related field (Marketing, Engineering, Business, Sales)
· Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role (i.e- business development, product development, project coordinator, etc)
· Ability to work well in a team environment
· Ability to work in a fast paced environment
· Must be able to work in person on site
· Capable of using computer software and various ERP and marketing software systems
