Job Summary

Produce Clerks are responsible for the proper stocking and rotation of merchandise in the produce department, including watering, and merchandising of products to ensure fresh, high-quality offerings. Work includes eye-hand coordination, repetitive arm and hand movements, safe use of knives and pineapple corer, along with frequent interaction with customers and associates.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Providing premier customer service, including greeting them and responding to questions
  • Filling and rotating produce cases and dry tables
  • Unloading product from trucks
  • Breaking down pallets, separating produce for the sales floor, cooler and/or back room prep area
  • Processing and/or wrapping produce items prior to filling cases and dry tables
  • Verifying ads, hanging current sale signs, and removing out-of-date sale signs.
  • Performing routine price changes on products
  • Operating pallet jack, forklift, baler, compactor, and scrub machine
  • Need to be 18 or older to use sharp knives, use ladders, scaffolds or their substitutes above 6 feet in height, and to operate or assist in operating power-driven machinery or equipment
  • They are responsible for proper inventory control to maximize product freshness and availability
  • Assisting in other duties, as assigned

Requirements Qualifications

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • May be exposed to various temperature changes and work environments
  • Able to interpret, understand and follow instructions
  • Able to deliver friendly, courteous, prompt customer service
  • Organization skills with the ability to multi-task and be detail oriented

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • 1-2 years related experience
  • Bilingual Spanish/English
