PRN Respiratory Therapist
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced PRN Respiratory Therapist (RT) to join our interdisciplinary team in providing high-quality respiratory care to residents of our skilled nursing facility. This role is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating respiratory therapy services to meet the individual needs of our residents on an as-needed basis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Assess residents with respiratory conditions, including COPD, asthma, pneumonia, and tracheostomy care needs.
Administer prescribed respiratory treatments and procedures, including nebulizer treatments, suctioning, chest physiotherapy, and oxygen therapy.
Monitor residents’ responses to therapy and document all care and assessments in the medical record accurately and timely.
Maintain and troubleshoot respiratory equipment (e.g., concentrators, suction machines, ventilators, oxygen tanks).
Provide tracheostomy care and education as needed.
Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team to develop or modify resident care plans.
Participate in care plan meetings and contribute to discharge planning when applicable.
Educate staff and residents on respiratory care topics as needed.
Ensure all treatments and equipment usage comply with infection control and safety standards.
Current licensure as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT or CRT) in the state of [insert state].
Minimum of 1 year of respiratory therapy experience, preferably in a long-term care, skilled nursing, or rehabilitation setting.
Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred).
Strong clinical, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) preferred.
Work is performed in a healthcare setting, with frequent exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with resident positioning as needed.
Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
