Preventative Maintenance Technician
REPORTS TO: Chief Engineer / Maintenance Engineer / General Manager
POSITION SUMMARY:
Preventative Maintenance is a unique position that focuses on performing routine and ad hoc maintenance repairs while simultaneously supporting the Housekeeping Dept. The primary responsibilities of this role are to maintain the condition of all rooms & hotel while assisting the Housekeeping Department, as directed.
Key responsibilities include keeping all equipment in good repair with a minimum of downtime by providing day-to-day maintenance of the hotel and completing maintenance work orders from all departments on a timely basis by following hotel’s standard operating procedures. When assisting the Housekeeping Department, this role will be expected to collect dirty linens and transport to laundry area, deliver fresh linens to room attendant carts throughout the day, deliver and retrieve items requested by guests and housekeeping staff. May assist with stripping linens from room, cleaning of public areas and/or launder linen.
As an associate of the hotel, Preventative Maintenance promote a positive image of the property to guests and must be pleasant, honest, and friendly and should also able to address guest requests and problems.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintenance Responsibilities:
- Resolve maintenance problems, complaints, and work orders.
- Maintain building exterior.
- Thoroughly complete maintenance logs.
- Follow and maintain a preventative maintenance program.
- Proactively maintain assigned areas and equipment
- Ensure that property and equipment are maintained in a safe manner, and that all repairs are made as specified by manufacture.
- Service the hotel’s pool including cleaning, appearance, and chemical balance and completing maintenance log.
- Follow hotel maintenance operating procedures.
- Communicate status of repairs to Maintenance Dept and other Departments.
- Maintain company and franchise maintenance standards for both guest rooms and public areas.
Housekeeping Responsibilities
- Provide a clean and safe environment for guests
- Cleaning rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and/or draperies, using vacuum cleaners and/or shampooers.
- Sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, and/or polishing floors, using brooms, mops, and/or powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
- Perform all stages of linen processing, including, but not limited to, collecting, transporting, sorting, weighing, loading and unloading (washers, dryers and chutes), ironing, folding, storing and delivering
- Deep cleaning of assigned areas
- Clean and maintain common areas of the property
- Setting up and maintaining complimentary hotel lobby functions
- Cleaning and setting up meeting room functions
- Delivering service items to guest rooms upon requests from front desk
- Assist with guest luggage when required
- Use supplies efficiently
- Knowledge and completion of property cleaning procedures
- Follow proper procedures for lost and found items
- Follow guest requests, i.e. do not disturb signs, change of linen or terry
- Review daily inventory of supplies needed to complete assignments
General Responsibilities:
- Ability to focus attention on details, speed and accuracy.
- Flexible with schedule and assignments
- Perform or assist with periodic or scheduled cleaning projects.
- Assist other departments when needed and perform other related duties as assigned.
- Ensure efficient completion of daily assignments in a timely manner
- Maintain effective performance under pressure
- Acknowledge and greet guests in public spaces
- Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards, anticipate and address guests.
- Report all safety, maintenance and housekeeping concerns to management
- Attend and participate in all mandatory training
- Follow guest safety procedures
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Frequently standing up or moving within and about the facility.
- Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50lbs and pushing and/or pulling approximately 200lbs.
- Frequently handling objects and equipment to maintain the facility.
- Frequently bending, stooping, and kneeling
- Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with guests and associates.
- Basic reading and writing abilities are utilized often when reading assignments, completing checklist, replacing linens and amenities.
- May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
