Preschool Assistant Center Director
General Description:
As the Assistant Center Director this position works collaboratively with the Center Director of our Weymouth Early Childhood Center to develop and achieve vision for the center, ensuring a safe and high-quality early learning environment that meets the developmental needs of young children. This position is supporting the Center Director with the daily tasks of running the center and is available to cover all Center Director responsibilities in the short-term absence of the Center Director.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· Supports Center Director with interviewing, onboarding, and training of all new staff.
· Supports all center staff with identifying professional development opportunities that with align with their IPDP’s
· Assume all supervisory responsibilities as listed on the Center Director job description in the short-term absence of Center Director.
Programmatic Responsibilities:
· Conducts classroom observations, evaluations, and provides coaching and feedback that motivates and encourages professional growth.
· Completes the Environmental Rating Scales Tool annually in each classroom and works with the Center Director to create a classroom action plan.
· Supports training and implementation of all curriculum tools.
· Meets with classroom teams regularly to analyze assessment data
· Create individualized plans for children and identify intervention strategies
· Assists Center Director and Family Support Clinician with teaming process.
· Assists with all screening, assessment, and transition reports.
· Assists to build center schedules to always ensure appropriate teacher/child ratios.
· Covers in the classroom as needed.
· Supports all aspects of Family Engagement and oversees the RISE program at the center.
· Assumes all programmatic responsibilities as listed on the Center Director job description in the short term absence of the Center Director.
Administrative Responsibilities:
· Ensure that center meets all licensing, accreditation and Stars standards.
· Maintain all children’s and staff files in compliance with licensing accreditation and agency standards.
· Supervise all educational and administrative record keeping and submit agency paperwork as required.
· Work with the enrollment team, Center Directors, Early Childhood Education Coordinator, and Family Support Clinicians to maintain optimal enrollment at all Early Childhood Center.
· Coordinate staff schedules and vacations. Arrange for substitute coverage.
· Assist Enrollment Director in marketing activities.
· Order food, equipment, and supplies, monitoring center budget.
· Assist in agency fundraising and advocacy activities.
· Assume all administrative responsibilities as listed on the Center Director job description in the short-term absence of a Center Director.
Facility Responsibilities:
· Ensures the physical environment and health/safety standards are in full compliance with local and state licensing regulations
· Conducts monthly emergency safety drills and maintains documentation.
· Ensure all classrooms are creative learning environments, which are clean, organized and well maintained.
· Coordinate, monitor cleaning, and maintenance of classrooms and playground.
· Report all maintenance problems to Maintenance Coordinator.
· Any other tasks as assigned by the Center Director.
Required Qualifications:
- DEEC Director 1 Qualified
- BA or BS in Child Development or Early Childhood Education
- Five Years of Teaching Experience in an Early Childhood Education Program
Preferred Qualifications:
- Specific experience with infant and toddler programming
- An understanding of developmentally appropriate practices and the ability to ensure its use in the classroom
- Experience interacting with people of different ages and backgrounds
- Strong interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills
- Commitment to agencies' mission of supporting low-income families and at-risk children
Reports to: Early Childhood Center Director

Pay: 64,000 to 76,000 based on background and experience
