The Harborside Inn is now hiring seasonal pool attendants for its 2024 season!

 

These positions are located on Martha's Vineyard.  Shared dormitory-style housing is available.  

 

Located on the harbor in the heart of Edgartown, the Harborside Inn is Martha's Vineyard's premier waterfront resort. With 90 guest rooms and luxury hotel amenities, it is the perfect place to vacation in the heart of Edgartown with all the galleries, dining, shops, and nightlife the town has to offer.

Anticipated Dates:

Our full season is April 1, 2024 through November 15, 2024. All positions, including seasonal roles, remain employment-at-will. Preference may be given to those available full season. However, those unable to work a full season are not necessarily automatically disqualified. Start and end dates may be flexible.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Our pool attendants plays a key role in our mission to deliver world class service and products and a memorable vacation experience to everyone that passes through our doors. They ensure every single guest and owner has an enjoyable experience at the Inn. This includes maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the pool area, servicing those using the pool, and ensuring there are an adequate supply of clean towels.  The position involves:

Operationally Related:

  • Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the pool areas. This includes performing any and all sanitation and social distancing requirements associated with COVID-19 at any given time.

  • Ensuring chairs and umbrellas are set up properly and are well maintained.

  • Monitoring inventory of tool towels and making certain there is an adequate supply available.

  • Taking soiled towels to the laundry room.

  • Monitoring the usage of the pool to ensure those utilizing it do so in a safe, responsible manner.

  • Assisting the housekeeping team with the washing, drying, and folding of towels as needed.

  • Completing daily shift checklists as applicable.

  • Assisting with the property's recreational activities as needed.

  • Assisting in other departments as needed.

Guest Service Related:

  • Initiating conversations with guests and owners, thanking them, anticipating their needs, seeking their feedback, and taking appropriate action. Consistently practicing the “10 and 5 rule,†referring to the guest by name, making appropriate eye contact, and displaying positive/welcoming body language when doing so.

  • Approaching all interactions with guests, vendors, and team members in an attentive, friendly, courteous, professional, business-like, service-oriented manner.

  • Obtaining the necessary knowledge to provide information and recommendations to guests and owners via phone, email, and in-person regarding the property, rooms, rates, amenities, the local area, events, activities, dining options, and directions.

  • Greeting guests and owners and providing a first point of contact to the property in a manner that creates an excellent first impression.

  • Resolving the concerns of both guests and owners according to organizational guidelines in a manner that is both effective and tactful being sure to utilize the assistance of management as needed.

  • Remaining available to guests and owners at all times while on the clock.

  • Working effectively with other departments and team members and establishing good working relationships with them to best meet the needs of guests and best facilitate a positive working environment.

  • Taking initiative in finding tasks to work on during slower times and seeking ways to enhance the guest and owner experience better.

It Also Involves:

  • Arriving to work as scheduled and following the property's attendance guidelines.

  • Attending meetings and trainings as requested.

  • Practicing all safety guidelines of the organization and reporting safety concerns to management.

  • Adhering to organizational guidelines/policies/expectations as well as federal, state, and local laws, including the property's confidentiality expectations.

 

Qualifications:

 

All of our team members are passionate about guest service and helping others. They initiate conversations, anticipate the needs of others, and interacts with others in a courteous and efficient manner. They love being a team player and are detail-oriented as well as flexible/adaptable. They are able to work a flexible work week including nights, weekends, and holidays. They understand maintaining confidentiality is important. This position primarily works outdoors and involves lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds.
