Plumbing Plans Examiner

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Plumbing Plans Examiner to review plumbing construction plans for residential and commercial projects. This role ensures compliance with the Florida Building Code – Plumbing, Fuel Gas Code, and applicable local regulations. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and experience with plan review and code compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Review plumbing plans, specifications, and calculations for code compliance
• Ensure adherence to the Florida Building Code – Plumbing and Fuel Gas Code
• Evaluate water supply, drainage, waste, vent, and gas piping systems
• Identify plan deficiencies and provide clear, professional correction comments
• Review revisions and resubmittals in a timely manner
• Coordinate with permit technicians, inspectors, engineers, and applicants
• Document plan review comments accurately in electronic permitting systems
• Provide technical guidance on plumbing and fuel gas code requirements
• Stay current with plumbing code updates and regulatory changes

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (technical degree preferred)
• Minimum 3 years of experience in plumbing plan review, inspection, or plumbing design
• Strong knowledge of Florida Building Code – Plumbing and Fuel Gas
• Ability to read and interpret plumbing drawings, riser diagrams, and calculations
• Proficiency with electronic plan review systems (Bluebeam or similar preferred)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Required Qualifications

• ICC Plumbing Plans Examiner Certification
• State of Florida Plumbing Inspector or Plans Examiner license
• Journeyman or Master Plumber background
• Experience reviewing residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments
