Job Description:

Responsible for programming automation and controls systems involving PLCs, HMIs, and RTUs to perform detailed design and modification of U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) facilities, equipment, and processes. Position requires interfacing and communicating with customers on project work. Experience is required with automation and controls systems design, programming, managing, commissioning, and installations/start-ups. Responsibilities also include the development of project estimates, cost/schedule documentation, and resolution of technical issues associated with electrical and instrumentation design deliverables.  This position demands a high level of accountability and technical knowledge and the ability to work both independently and as an effective member of a high-performance project team. These positions require an active DOE Q security clearance or equivalent.

Qualifications:

  • A 2 year Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Electrical/Electronics, Instrumentation, or Process Controls is preferred.
  • At least 5 years' experience programming Allen Bradley/Rockwell PLCs, HMIs, and RTUs.
  • Previous experience in a Nuclear environment
  • Active DOE Q Security Clearance or equivalent

 Experience:

The ideal individual for this Controls Engineer role would have the following:

  • Active DOE Q Security Clearance or equivalent
  • PLC programming (Allen Bradley/Rockwell, RSLogix 500, 5000, ControlLogix)
  • HMI programming (PanelView, PanelView Plus, and RSView)
  • At least 2 years of experience in a Nuclear environment
  • An enthusiastic attitude and willingness to truly engage in assignments and take ownership in the work that's being performed
  • Comfortable working closely with the client and other senior engineering personnel to complete design work to specifications
