Physical Damage Claims Adjuster

The APD Claims Specialist is responsible for performing the duties outlined below and will work directly with the casualty claims department on existing physical damage claims.

The APD Claims Specialist will report directly to the Caualty Claims Manager.

Responsibilities:                                                                                                               

·         Investigate automobile insurance claims to determine coverage and damages. Reviews contract terms, coverage limits, and exclusions to determine the applicability of coverage to each claim.

·         Interacts and collaborates directly with clients, claimants, agents, repair facilities, service providers, and attorneys to explain the repair or total loss process.

·         Appraises damaged vehicles and their equipment using claims estimating software and determines claims related damages. Completes fair and accurate repair estimates virtually, adjusts repair facility estimates, or assigns independent adjusters when necessary.

·         Manages repair process and adjusts supplements as necessary. Issues payments when required.

·         Completes vehicle total loss valuations. Explains total loss salvage release from client or third-party claimant. Mitigates storage costs by arranging transport of units to storage-free facility and/or negotiating agreed rate with tow facility.

·         Maintains accurate and detailed claim files, documentation, and activity logs in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.

·         Reviews facts of loss and vehicle damage to determine if subrogation opportunities exist and sends related supports and demand to responsible parties or their carriers.

·         Other duties as assigned.

Education and experience: 

• High school graduate, some college or insurance related education preferred. 
• At least 2 years as an auto physical damage adjuster, with a preference of experience handling commercial trucking and specialty heavy equipment claims.
• Current technical knowledge of auto collision repair techniques and standards.
• Working experience in one or more estimating platforms, such as CCC One, Mitchell, and/or Audatex.
• Strong interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, and negotiation abilities.
• Familiar with a variety of insurance claim concepts, practices, and procedures. 
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. 
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Word, Outlook, Excel.
